At least Swift is .26/mi. May Trucking isn't a bad solo option either. One of my classmates went to May after a lousy mentor at Swift. He is still fairly happy at May.

Go to Swift...many people have started there and been successful...get on a dedicated account ASAP then leave when your time is up...plenty of quality jobs waiting for you then.

So if I don't mind the slave wages, just avoid the headache and drive with Swift?

So what is CRST paying new drivers? They did recently come out with a pay increase as per their Craigslist advertisements.

.25 per mile for students. .32 per mile at 6 months. That's just glancing at the "Brochure" they sent me.

Put your CDL school costs on a credit card. That way you can go with whoever when you graduate.

CRST gave me my start 6 years ago when I didn't have any money and needed somebody to pay my schooling. Truth is they aren't any different from any of the mega's. Miles are there but honesty it's luck of the draw. You can have a really bad trainer and then a bad co driver and have a miserable experience or you may have a good trainer and co driver and make okay money. If you go there do a year and move on. I do a lot of reading on this forum and the same issues are at Swift, US Xpress, etc.

I started at CRST after cdl school. It's not as bad as people who never worked there make it out to be. It is definitely not for the lazy. If you do a good job they will work you hard. If not you will get all the crap runs. For me it was a good experience overall. I did get a few lousy co-drivers. It was a good stepping stone to better paying jobs.

But that's what you're here for! If everyone didn't immediately recoil in horror when I posted this thread, I'd be on a bus to CRST in August.
