Schneider does hire new CDL holders but they do not have a CDL school. You will need to get yur CDL elsewhere first.

They offer to let me go to Star Truck Driving school. Once I past that its the usual contract yr with them since they paid for school. Just trying to see what starting pay n hometime would be like for a new driver Chicago Regional

I don't think what region your in matters, when I signed on, I applied as a regional driver out of Green Bay for 7 days out and 2 days home. Check there website for your area and seeing what is available would be your best option. I trained in Appleton WI, at Fox Valley Tech. College, thru a specific SNI training program for getting your CDL, some of the instructor's used to run the CDL training program at Schneider, now they train you for Schneider, that training you didn't get paid for. That training/schooling was paid for by Schneider, then it was off to Green Bay to really get you honed down to a finer edge. Once you got to that level you get paid $80.00 a day. I am a retired Army/National Guard veteran that has driven a multitude of trucks, tractor trailers, buses and tracked vehicles in the US and Europe, so big equipment is not new to me. After 6 months, my debt is repaid for the training, I don't know if that has changed since last year, you mentioned a year. I also am like a faithful dog at this point, I am currently mostly happy in my current situation, the wife is happy she says, SNI invested there time and money in me, I still feel I owe them more. As for once your on your own I think they still start you out at .29 cents a mile, but that my vary. I am at home today, truck is getting some maintenance done, any questions do ask, lots of good folks here that have far more experience than I do. Stay safe out there...:biggrin_25525:

Not sure what the pay woukd b, but sni does have different pay packages depending where u live. If u live in St Louis your pay per mile is higher then say Charlotte. Somthing about cost of living.

Thanks alot GrizzlyBuck. I really want to go ahead go with Schneider. Recruiter said 3-5days out then 38hrs home. Didnt mention pay per mile. Some are lucky enough to get Intermodel right off the back bc of how busy Chicago freight is. Would be nice to be home every night. But I know I have to take whats given to me. Its going to be hard to go a month without pay b4 my $80 a day start. May have to get a part time job during school

I highly doubt you will only be out 3-5 days then home. You will run your 70 hours then get a reset but it might not be home. I am running the 11 western and texas. Im out 2 weeks back home 2 days and even thats unpredictable. Starting pay varies on experience. I have prior military driving experience so I got started at $0.33 cpm which isnt bad for a rookie. Pay at this point isnt prioroty its about getting experience and paying your dues like all the other drivers have before you.

    Good luck with your career!!
