Hi 6 Speed, now what do you mean by that? You don't know the situation, and I'm not going to go into it. ANYBODY that went through what I went through, would have done the same thing. Yes, it was the best trucking job I ever had, but it still wasn't enough, and it was a really bad time in my life, so let's just say, I don't wish it on anybody.

You already went into it by stating only that it was a Union job and it was a bad time in your life,,,,,,and you admit quitting the best trucking job you ever had which makes no sense at all. I only see it as you taking a shot because you have and ax to grind against Unions. Carry on......... -
OK, the reason didn't have anything to do with the job. Perhaps I should have been more clear. I've learned long ago not to rip on unions, people have very strong feelings about unions, and I won't debunk that. As it turns out, I would have lost that job any way, as they canned all the union drivers, and went with outside carriers. I can give you a hint, when you say "I do", make sure you know who you're marrying.

WOW guys didnt know my thread was gonna get. So. Big. Anyways. You wouldnt believe the knowledge im gettin just from reading your old vet more experienced posts. I really appreciate the feedback. The more I think about it trucking can be a dog eat dog business. But by the same token. We need to look out for eachother, who else will?
"semi" retired and OldHasBeen Thank this. -
And dont get me started on unions... lol
OldHasBeen Thanks this. -
Hi ttc, just a little friendly advice, be careful what you say about unions. It's kind of like rippin' on someone's favorite football team, people are very loyal to their unions. And for good reason. Unions have helped this country immensely. Sure, there has been corruption in unions, and some can be chronic complainers, but I'm not sure where this country would be without out them. I never was a union man, that's why that one job was so awkward for me, but history has shown, management will take advantage of the worker in the name of profits. I know, unions seem ridiculously out of date now( just be glad you have a job), but truth is, it seems, the reason trucking is so all over the place, is we lack organization, I feel.6 Speed Thanks this.

If you want to discuss unions, take it to the Politics Forum, please. Those discussions are almost always a catalyst for bickering and insults, so we don't allow them in the open forums.
