Quick question,,,,I'm interested in applying for any Walmart Driving job avail in Ariz. The good: Have held a CDL for the past 41 years, no accidents or tickets in a commercial veh, ever. Have verifiable (5) years experience with local supermarket chain as my prior employer, safe driver award. Also, have lots of un verifiable OTR experience, but years ago. Just retired from Law Enforcement after 28 years, am I wasting my time? Thanks for any and all comments....

Walmart wants 3 years current clean record OTR experience. I occasionally drive dedicated lanes for them, and that's what their drivers and dispatchers are saying that they're looking for.

My employer contracts with them as a dedicated carrier at one of their DCs in Northeast PA. When needed, we will supply a number of power units and drivers at their request to cover a 10 hour shift, out and back same day.

You need 250000 miles Experience with at least 50000 miles in each of the last three years. I am in the process of possibly getting hired. There are walmart drivers on here that can help you better. Someone will post the whole requirement list. I am not good at that stuff. Good luck

Thanks, looks as though I need to get back in the seat and get some miles before they will even talk to me. I thought maybe they would take my past experience which I could convey in a resume, but probably not. Trying to avoid working like a dog for some cheap outfit, which would be tough after having worked at a union company that treated me well, thanks again!

When you were at the supermarket, was it before you became L/E, Or did you work there casual while L/E? If you have not driven in the last 28 years, I would say no dont bother applying. But if you were working casual while you were L/E and have the miles, I would apply you have nothing to loose. There are 2 DCs in AZ,Casa Grand and Buckeye. Good Luck

Pjpj, No, I did 5 years at the market, then left for a new career. I have so much prior experience and had a great job when I left the industry. I guess what makes this all so difficult is that these companies either want me to pay for training (which I would never do), or they want me driving for peanuts, and be gone for weeks at a time! But, I have a solution! I will either buy my own truck (probably a Walmart Tractor), or I will find an owner operator to run casual with. I REFUSE to work for Swift, Knight, Werner, well you get the idea. Sorry for being long winded, thanks for your response!
