I am just getting into the industry, tired of the behind the desk IT work and going to change my scenery and finally get my CDL. I grew up in a farming family, and drove large equipment and hauled grain occasionally but never got my commercial drivers license. It appears there is a large demand for CDL drivers today, but want to do some homework and ask the driving community what opportunities they might see in Northern Michigan. I am willing to go OTR for a while to gain the experience for better opportunities in the future, just want to be able to come home regularly for kids and wife.
So, what big and/or smaller companies around Northern Michigan or having routes through here should I consider?
Thanks!!

You will get more responses on the "Questions From New Drivers" or "Experienced Truckers Advice" threads.
Are you attending a CDL school?
Do you have any endorsements?
What city/town are you near? This tells us which hiring area you live in. For example, NTB Inc. is a good company with good hometime & with terminals in Michigan and they hire new CDL graduates. You must live within a certain distance of one of their terminals.scottjhall Thanks this. -
Thanks for the input!!
I am going to be attending Pinnacle in Cadillac, MI starting May 12th for four weeks. I just got off the phone with NTB, and they will accept graduates of the school and got their details. Doesn't sound too bad with them, but going to do a bunch of talking to other companies in the coming weeks I am sure. And thanks for the help in the PM as well. Got to work on my posts here so that I can reply there too
