I actually enjoy Monday-Friday normal business hour P&D the most. Line haul...I've done enough of it to realize its garbage around here...trying to pay me by the mile to sit in NYC Tri-State area traffic. Oh and btw can you please Via through one of the other area terminals so we can waste even more of your time without properly compensating you?![]()

This man is correct. I have dealt with SMT a lot over the years and it is my opinion that they would be on the lower end of the quality spectrum. Almost every body has an ltl terminal in Tyler. Also, Delek Refinery is in Tyler. You can haul Gas, Deisel, JP8, Avgas, and jet a. Watch the aviation fuel though because it will pay really well and you will run your b@//$ off and then be sitting at home for a week or two when the prices go up. Private message me and I can give you some more info.road_runner Thanks this.

I'm in with fastsvt on this. I've had to roll through there a couple times and talk to guy that works out of that terminal almost every night. The big guy over there has been good with me every time I go through but I hear he can be precarious. Nice... brand spanking new terminal.

The most aggressive dork wads out on the road. Following closely, always running 72+ or more, team same way. -
Figured I would update. I moved from my OTR position to a local thing running plywood and lumber in a Class B flatbed. It's a horrible job, tons of work and bad pay but I am going home every night. I am still looking into LTL companies but I think something is snagging them when they look into my history or something. I am not getting calls back after the first and I have applied to many. I have no criminal history, no accidents so I do not know why they would be glossing me over. I left my old company in good standing.
Any ideas? -
Dood, your in Texas, the ONLY place you should be is the oilfield..OTR is the worst life on the planet, LTL can be cool, but the oilfield is the money and the bennies...
Dilley Texas has a company offering a free house and 1200 a week to drive a truck..look at craigslist/jobs/transportation/west texas
Id want the 3k a week job hauling crude....
I went to North Dakota and hauled water for 2k a week for 3 months...Im gonna move there in a year, totally loved it, so many jobs its disgusting...so hard to pik a company
I went with slawson exploration/mongoose trucking...awesome outfit, dont know if they are in texas or not -
Might be lack of doubles exp. Everyone dropping apps might have doubles exp and they pass up on you. Maybe the LTL in your area is lazy to train. Try getting on with fedex ground cause it's the season for packages same with Ups. FedEx Ground has solo routes too. I know US foods will get you doubles qualified but it's physical work. My LTL company picked me up and another one of our drivers from US Foods to run Linehaul where I'm at. Also I know YRC is hurting for drivers might want to drop a app there.Byx Thanks this.

I don't want to live in a mancamp, I want to go home every day. To my own shower, my own toilet, my own bed. Not a lot of that available in the patches. And what is available is mostly out of my experience range. I don't want to mess with crude, to much red tape.
YRC offered me an ops position, and I applied for a road driver position (I think it was road driver at least, where I'd be dispatched between YRC drop yards and terminals taking sets to and from. I even applied for nights, but I never got any calls back.) It's been a fair while, guess it wouldn't hurt to refresh some of my applications.Last edited: Oct 23, 2014

By all means, do some follow up work on your applications. Show enough interest to keep them interested in you, hopefully without you becoming a "pest" to them.
Byx Thanks this. -
