Been quite a freakin week!!!! Messing around with Burris in Elkton,MD...always fun those places (although NOWHERE near as bad as others)..... then to Kennett Square,PA and an absolutely TORTUOUS load there going to Robert,LA and New Caney,TX possibly two of the WORST Wally DC's in the country....

Ended last week with having to give the instruction to put to sleep our beloved, wonderful 15 year old German Shepherd / Beagle mix dog. Already missing her terribly...although I do still have my other little buddy in the truck with me...

Barely had enough time to get to the TA in Elkton then head to the next pick up which you thought would be smooth....well evidently you have to sit for around an hour and a half then remind them you need a door and get assigned...you then stand on the rather cold dock to apprantly "count" the product....I didn't get much chance to count...but after close to 5 hours messing around there pitched me into Baltimore Friday rush hour traffic, though I decide to take a slightly different route (I70) to avoid DC exiting traffic....pick up time with a smooth ride on the Saturday and arrive at what you would think would be BANG on time (4:15pm appointment, arrive at 4:15pm) well, evidently at Robert,LA that is NOT considered as on time...you have to do all their usual c**p like dropping your trailer in the door and yada yada....drop your paperwork at the CRO and wait....and wait.....and wait......then go to the window and enquire on the status of the load....to be told "it is being worked on"....and to be informed that "you were late"..... erm......huh???? Yep, evidently although I arrived at the facility on time that does not mean I was ACTUALLY on time, which to them is the time you arrive at the window. Then get told by the dock "supervisor" that it does not matter I am out of my 14, it is OK to get from there to a truck stop.....pardon me, but I have NEVER read ANYWHERE that there is ANY kind of grace period....EVER.....GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Finally emerge from there around midnight and get to Pilot in Hammond LA and collapse exhausted into bed. NOw here at New Caney,TX Walmart DC and not holding out much hope for a speedy exit here....

Despite all the problems I have had (personal and professional) in the past week miles are still way up there (3,200 over the past few weeks)....when I EVENTUALLY get out of Wally-hell here I will have another good run from Garland,TX to Rochester,NY

I thought all Walmart DCs are like that, have to be done dropping and all that junk at your appt time or earlier.

I arrived Monday June 2nd at around 2140hrs, got to the yard around 2215. Had two others in class who are a day ahead of me. Took my drive test, drug test and physical at 1830hrs tonight. Everybody seems real nice, equipment is very well maintained. So far so good my impression is about what I expected due to the positive posting on here. Only thing I hear about home time is a little different. Denzil says 1 day for each week out. I have talked with other drivers who say they stay out for a month or two and take 4 days off. I have a family and expect 1day for each week.
I will post as I go.

I'd imagine the southern route IS I40. And yep, that's the route I'm taking. Not taking 44k lbs through the rockies.

Sorry to hear about your dog. That's always a tough call, even when it's best for the dog.

I love how shippers and receivers expect us to know all of their oddball rules. They all need to get together and make one set of procedures. And while I'm wishing for impossible things, I'd like a 4 lane, truck only interstate system. ..

Just because that's all the time off they take, doesn't mean that's all we get. I took a week off last time I went home. They do like us to limit it to a week since the truck is sitting and not making money.

Loaded from Irvine CA to Johnstown NY. Tonight I'm at the house. Doesn't happen often but nice to get through home on a load. Got inspected in AZ during their inspection blitz. No violations thank goodness and only took twenty minutes. They were quick.

If your miles start getting real low they might make an issue of it. And you'll want to run pretty hard until you're out of the probationary period. But you can generally take 4 days off after 3 weeks. Or like 3 1/2 weeks. I usually take 5 days after 4 weeks out if my miles are good.
