Go Melton? Or stay home??

I make easy 1000 a week...every two weeks making that much would kill anyone out here.

 

Crzyjarmans is quoting his weekly paycheck. He has a ton more experience then me and started out a lot higher cpm. I gross right at $1000 for week and am at .35 cpm.

 

Actually if u claim 0 you get taxed more then 1. I've tried both at my current employer we get paid biweekly n health, dental ,vision , 401k,stock option,Etc come out pretax which helps actually lower the amount u get taxed on.. But I still get hit alot harder in Taxes then I would if we got paid every wk. but also get back between 2-2200 for single no depend ants or anything.


also OP foodservice pays pretty good I actually work at sysco but in the warehouse I'm a selector aka guy who pulls the orders you would deliver. I know from talking to alot of the drivers 65-70k is normal for working 4days wk. but it is very hard work.. I've been on few routes cause I was trying to switch to driving. But my sysco won't help get cdl and told me I need to go somewhere for 1-2yr experience n come back.. Pretty crazy seeing as they know me and how I work. As productive goes I'm #3 outta like 65-70 ppl

 

One thing to keep in mind when your talking with people who don't track their numbers.

If they get paid 1000 bucks net per week for 3/6 months
700 bucks net per week for 1/6 months
900 bucks net per week for 1/6 months
and 500 bucks net per week for 1/6 months

They will probably say i usually make "about"800-1000 net per week.

Their actual average will be closer to 784.61 (i slacked off on making the months into decimals to get exact, but you get the point)

I can't really make any argument in either direction with some concrete #'s so I'll reserve judgement until they come out.

 

Melton pays every week, this is not a bi-weekly

 

I just love it when someone that's been driving for less than a year comes out and thinks they know every thing, Wish they would just get some experience under their belt before telling someone else what they do or don't do

 

Correct, I wasn't trying to imply everyone will do the same here at Melton, I've been driving for many year, and Melton started me at the highest rate they start new hires, I've only been with Melton sense 3/17/14, and my CPM is .43, Now! the shortest run I have had sense I've been here was 1140 including DH, Maybe I've been lucky with the loads I've got'n? or maybe it's do to the length of experience I have, Not sure, you can make your own judgement on that

 

Like previously said I'll reserve my judgement until i see some real #'s. I can tell you my weekly gross avg,weekly net avg,average trip length,% of loads tarped and much more down to the ten-thousandth decimal place. If we're going to give this guy some really useful information we need to crunch some #'s. Age,Ego,experience level and BS aside that is the goal of this thread. Let's crunch some numbers and put out some useful information.

I'd rather see Army91W post up his same #'s in these same 5 categories since our experience levels are comparable and will give Dodgerfan a better idea of what his first year will be like at Melton. CrzyJarmans your welcome to post up your #'s in the same 5 categories so we can see what a 20 year veteran driver is making. Something to look forward to for us maybe?

 

Just some Food for thought here. If you do have an average weekly net of $1100. Let's assume that your net is 70% of your gross after health insurance,401k,cash advances,taxes etc... that's actually fairly optimistic. If we're going with that then you will have a Weekly Gross AVG of $1571.42. If you work 45.15 weeks per year (one day at home per week out) then you will Gross 70,950 your first year working for Melton.

Now just for the sake of discussion let's do a little quick fact checking. Your making .43cpm and after all additional pay is added in we will say you make .48CPM. We're looking at 3273.79 miles per week average to maintain the aforementioned gross which would give you the net you listed. Now anyone that's been out here for any length of time is going to know that averaging over 3000 miles per week throughout the whole year with E-Logs and a Governed truck is extremely unlikely.
