    I wouldn't swing doors for $200,000/yr.

I guess someone has to slam doors but it's part of the industry I think we could live without. At least we can put containers on decks. Bam no more cryin ### dock bumpers. We all win

I really can't believe you were put out of service. I don't know all the technicalities but it looks good to me. Maybe next time do it like they say then throw a few straps over

The interesting thing is if you were to leave it secured EXACTLY how you have it, but take a torch or boltcutter and cut the chain in the middle it would be completely legal !! Because then you would have two chains per side instead of one.

This is a horrible post. Shippers do not have exemptions to securement laws. Nor do safety departments.

The picture he posted is what he had to do to get legal. Before that he had ONE binder on each side UNDER the rub rail. No wonder he was put OOS.

this is a simple way to remember. your load rating of a chain and binder will be half of which ever one is the least if one end is secured on trailer and other end is secured on load. example a 20000lb rated chain and a 16000lb binder is being used- the rating will be 8000lbs. now if you use that same chain and binder and secure from one side of trailer and over load and secure to the other side of trailer you will get full rating of the least. 16000lbs. always remember you must have half of load weight in securement at a minimum.

believe it or not there is shipper exemptions to the rule. but must have it in writing from shipper. but still be adequate securement. safety dept. not so much!

So according to your statement the picture is AFTER you added another binder right? If you just had one binder PRIOR to being put OOS yes you were adding your WLL wrong. Like others have said when you don't go across the unit,(which I know in this particular case shipper had instructions on how to secure it). and just connect back to the SAME side you cut the WLL in half. When you added the binder you made it correct
