Hi everyone, first off I just want to say thank you to all the Prime trainers and drivers for responding to questions on this thread. I am going to apply to Prime as soon as I get my tax return and can get my wife a kid set up until money starts rolling in. I have been looking into trucking for almost two years researching different companies, taking practice tests and such and it appears the Prime is without a doubt the best choice for me. I did have one question that has been bugging me and I get a lot of mixed awnsers on. First off I don't have ins so in Oregon we have this thing called vim which is doctor offices for people without ins. I went in because I thought I might have a small hernia but wasn't sure because I've never had one and I only feel this feeling once in a great while but some driver friends told me I'd want to get it checked if I wanted to drive. I told the Dr what my plans were and he said he could barely feel anything at worst maybe the start of one and it shouldn't interfere with me driving. I am in perfect health (except I'd like to lose maybe 20 pounds) and it in no way interferes with anything I do on a day to day basis. I work in the automotive industry lifting and laying on creepers bending and such all day and go running three times a week. So I guess I'm asking your thoughts on if Prime will except me if they feel a small hernia starting. The Dr I saw said he wouldn't even bother to fix it as it isn't bad enought to effect me... Thanks again for an awesome thread I hope to train with one of you at the end of summer!!! Stay safe and God bless...

Have you been formally diagnosed as having a hernia? If not, no problem.
Did the doctor put it in writing that your problem will not be an issue? If so, you are 100% clear.
If not, I assume that the most the Prime doc will do is the "turn your head and cough" test.
Just sayin'...Dan G Thanks this. -
No I have never been diagnosed... And I didn't think to get his words in writing I probably can, sometimes it is hard to get the same Dr when you go in because a bunch of them are doing it on their time as a service to those without ins. But I'm sure I can get his name and contact him directly. And he did do the turn Ur head routine, that's when he said he may feel a slight one but that it wasn't anything worth "fixing" I just don't want to ride a bus for 41 hours + from Eugene Or to Missouri to have a Dr there say no go if he feels the same thing 80+ hours in a bus in one week seems like the worst form of torture to me haha

Can anyone tell me how long Primes training is for a CDL holder. How many weeks out until you get a truck? How long can I expect to be away from home?
-
IIRC, it's 40,000 *team* miles if you already have a CDL and haven't driven recently. That translates into 6-8 weeks.
Falcone Thanks this. -

Prime STUDENT Driver course for permit-holders is only conducted out of Springfield MO. Orientation for CDL holders going into TnT training or for those with enough experience to jump directly into a truck can be done at any of the three principle terminals.
