What I've started to do is fill my thermos whenever I'm at a truck stop for fuel, since I'm now team driving and we aren't always changing shifts at a truck stop. Now I've developed a real taste for COLD coffee. I'll pour out a mug of coffee from the thermos and put it in the cooler before I start my sleeper berth time, and it's nicely chilled by the time I wake up and I then pour that into a water bottle and start chilling the next mug's worth.
Chilled coffee seems to bring out more of the flavor, especially on the sweeter end of the taste spectrum. I've been cutting sugar out of my diet and now I'm enjoying black coffee.
Funny you mention cocoa. I picked up some unsweetened Ghirardelli cocoa in the bakery aisle yesterday and added a couple of large spoonfuls to my mug of coffee and chilled it. When I tried it at the start of my shift last night.... WOW! Talk about adding some kick! Cocoa has caffeine it it... doh!
One mug last night was plenty. I'm going back for more for tonight's shift, but dialing back the cocoa a touch.
Black coffee with unsweetened cocoa. Think I'll stick with this for a while. -

get yourself an inverter put in your truck, they are a little expensive but worth every penny, you can than put in a microwave, tv or anything you want. A coffee purculator would be best to get but than again you need an inverter. Don't waste your money on those little 12watt coffee makers they are a waste of your money.

I use my lunch box oven. Put water in one of those pans let it boil( takes a while) and use one of the single serve coffes from folgers. also works for makeing ice tea on my brake.

Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys chilled coffee! I think that's the way I'm going to get my occasional bit of caffeine, currently have cut caffeine way down. I'm trying to cut it out of my diet altogether, been drinking a lot of gatorade, flavored water, and the V8 energy drinks.

I started out with one of those 12v 10 cup coffee makers with no timer on it and it took forever to brew even half a pot. So, I eventually gave up on it and just had to plan it in my day to fill my thermos up before I stopped for the day/night. Not a perfect solution because essentially I had to always plan to stop just to get coffee whether I needed fuel or not, but I'm they type of guy that cannot/will not get rolling without at least one travel mug of coffee in me. I would pour my first cup out of the thermos and pour the rest in my lunch box oven to get really hot. By the time I got done with the first cup, my pre trip, etc. the remaining coffee which was burn you face off hot got poured back into the thermos so the remaining coffee was hot enough to drink. This last fall I invested in an inverter and a 5 cup AC coffee maker with a timer..... I was really nice waking up to the smell of hot fresh Maxwell House coffee in the cab.
Now I'm local and drink most of my coffee at home before I start my shift but I take a Starbucks Vanilla Iced Coffee with me for later in the afternoon. -
Im with ya! Its rare when I drink hot coffee. But the Gatorade and V8 are worse for you than the coffee any day. Sugars and carbs are the enemy! I've dropped 50 lbs since February cutting that crap out.Lux Prometheus Thanks this.
