Bought another truck. 2001 kenworth w900l. A/c was not working. Discovered a hole in suction line and compressor locked up. Replaced all hoses except 3, both expansion valves, clutch, compressor, and dryer. Well no noticeable leaks. Problem is air got cool but not cold. Also when adding refrigerant it would only take a little, stop, take a little more. And the suction pressure was around 80psi(to high), and the head pressure would only build to 100 psi max(to low). I am no ac man, but know those readings are not good, also do not know what would cause this. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you had it suctioned down before charging the system?
Most new compressors come with the oil for the entire system most times.
I was having the same problem with the air on a Cummins ISX.....not that engine brand matters but 3 shops later they figured out the new compressor was installed without the oil being flushed out of the system before the compressor was installed.
It was giving crazy readings on the gauge and was just getting cool but not cold.
That shop blew everything out, added correct amount of oil and freon and it was better than when the truck was brand new.cumminsISB and EverLuc Thank this. -
I would say you have a blockage some where. Go through the system again. You might have to replace condenser as well.

we are thinking compressor to. Yes we did pull a vacuum. No blockage, blew out condensor .

Compressor solved the problem but now it won't hold a vacuum and we can't find a leak. Even with the uv die. Gonna check the evaporator tomorrow.

I have bought a defective compressor right out of the box.Rare but it happens.
Good luck! I hate chasing AC problems...cumminsISB Thanks this. -
Found a loose line. New oring, tightened up. Good to go.
EZ Money Thanks this.
