A person should have the right to defend themselves....whatever happen to the days of knowing the meaning of the constitution? I believe in my rights and as long as I'm not infringing or hurting others then I should be able to live my life the way I chose to, I was born free and I'm dying free. Sorry if I offended anyone but I have the right to my opinion

They dont need a cdl to steal a truck. All it takes is basic skill with a manual unless the truck happens to be automatic. Wouldn't be hard at all to picture them grabbing a truck from teh fuel isle filled with fuel and slamming it into some unsuspecting building of people.

I'm licensed to concealed carry in about 30 states with my permits and my gun goes where I go.I keep as current as possible on the states that I run and stay in compliance.Nothing in my lease says anything about firearms in CMV.I do encounter some locations that do not allow firearms.Hence, part of the reason to keep current on state law. Also have a safe in the truck. As far as federal locations, put t in the case, let them check it in,zip-tie the case shut, and pick it upon the way out.I do keep a gun in the truck and I still don't worry about anything..crazyhorse1 Thanks this.

Well I am an ex LEO. I have no CCW though I am applying for one presently, and where I go my pistol goes. I have never had a problem.... ever. I have been pulled over etc, asked 1 time to search and I asked why. His reply was "do I have permission to search" and I said no. See there is little most know that in order to search they have to have proveable probable cause. Probable cause for a search that is not admissable is it has to be in plain sight (whatever they are searching for) or they have to have a hit by a drug/bomb type sniffing K-9. I never unload my gun. It stays full with groceries in the chamber. An empty gun isn't a gun at all when needed in an emergency, it is a chunk of useless metal.
Now to add to some changing laws and you will see it start to occur elsewhere but in the state of FL it has been passed that no one has the right to tell you you can not have a weapon in your vehicle unless you are on govt' property. Employers can not enforce rules and insurance companies have no jurisdiction over it. Thank god for the NRA, and this is a major milestone for our 2nd amendment rights.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
I and my son are NRA life members.photolurp2 Thanks this. -
Sorry, but you are not right about the employers rights to enforce rules.
They own the truck, you work for them. You are subject to their rules whether you like it or not. -

I have to disagree that they are for hunting as first of all, thats not what it says in the constitution. Second, If you give them an inch, they want a mile. Third, I find it ludicrous when I turn on the tv and 'they' are blaming guns for a tragedy. Like if guns have a will, intention, malice, hate, etc. I do not agree with some of the public's perception that it is a thing that causes tragedy. I also do not believe that we as a society must appoint baby sitters to tell us what we must do in every aspect of our lives to stay safe. Hand guns are not meant to kill people (it doesn't say that in the owner's manual of any of mine) as it states in the safety part of the manual. But they do say "point the weapon only at a target you are ready to destroy". They are made to be light and compact to make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
I do not believe that guns cause crime anymore than having a booze bottle right next to me is going to cause me to get drunk. I have the ability to choose whether or not to drink said booze or not and drive. So, can I blame Jack Daniel's for making me drunk and getting tossed in jail? No. Can I blame Mr. Smith or Mr. Wesson for shooting at someone cutting me off and slowing down? No. I believe that having a gun is no excuse for misusing it anymore than it is to bash someone over the head with a monkey wrench. There are better ways of dealing with problems that do not mortally wound anyone. So, again, I do not blame a gun for anything. I blame the individual responsible for the tragedy and those who knew about it but looked the other way--again, because we have tied our hands behind our collective backs and taped our tongues to the cieling to be PC so no one does anything to offend those groups in charge of these criminals' "rights".
This is not meant as 'flack' against anyone's beliefs just my argument that we should find other solutions to our problems. Hunting can be accomplished with a handgun just as with a bow. At closer ranges to the target. People hunt with bolt action handguns and revolvers all the time. It just proves more challenging to have to sneak up to the animal a lot closer for a good shot. Such animals hunted are wild pigs and even deer. You can either use a rifle caliber or if you choose, a .44 magnum is bad medicine on deer too. Then there is prarie dog or crow hunting on private ranches as they are considered pests. .22 LR works good. Even better with a silencer (where legal). -
If they own the truck and you are correct to degree. It hasn't been fought yet but under the rules of domicile you may not own the truck but it is your home. It shares the same rights as a Tennant. You may not pay to live in it but it is a requirement to do so for your work which in turn makes it your assumed home. If you own your truck, lease your truck etc. they cannot (in the State of Florida that is) fire you or deny you your constitutional right to bear arms. These are the same rules LEO's have to follow when they ask to search your vehicle. If they don't have provable apparent probable cause you can tell them to pound sand and they can't do anything about it. There is also a law of just prudence that they have to adhere to as well, in other words if you refuse and they do not have PC they cannot detain you any longer than reasonably necessary to finish their paperwork etc. In other words, you refuse a search, they call for K9, if the K9 is more than 15 minutes away they have to release you. I know these laws well, I was an LEO and worked for BLE (Bureau of Law Enforcement) which was the division of the SO that ran narcotics, K9 and traffic. I have seen it all(well being real you can never see it all but I sure did whitness a lot of strange behaviors and actions) and have been involved in a lot of legal actions due to my position. BTW I am no longer an officer for the main reason of politics. I can't stand to achieve raises, promotions etc. based on seniority over ability. This also the reason why I have been self employed for the last 7 years and will remain that way.photolurp2 Thanks this.

Anyone else aware that the gun crime rate statistic is higher for law enforcment than the CCW holder? That isn't me bashing law enforcment, I truly respect law enforcment and those who do the dangerous job. I'm just making a point about the CCW holders.
In NC, to date not one CCW holder has been charged with a gun crime and there have been hundreds of thousands issued since 1995.
This was part of the argument for the recent improvments in the state of GA rules regarding CCW and now waiting for the Governor to sign. -
dont worry, you didnt defent me at all..but, think about this:
why are crooks crooks? the answer: they dont give a #### about laws and do what ever they feel like and have very little, to no morals
so, i ask you, what is going to stop a crook from getting a hand gun if he wants one...he doesnt give a #### about the laws...hes a crook.
you know what i, and others with their permits call places that outlaw you to carry a gun into even with you permit? CPZ's (Criminal Protection Zones). we call them that bc the only people who are NOT going to carry a gun into that place, is the law abiding citizen. which makes it an easy target for an armed crook
i remember hearing a story about a fellow who had his CCW permit, and didnt have it on him this day bc the place he went to was a CPZ. well, while he was in there, the place got robbed by an armed robber...no one got hurt, BUT he took that company to court for not allowing him to be able to defent himself..and he won the case..
i dont want you to be offended either, but you just gotta realize, crooks dont care abuot gun laws...if they did, we could make it a perfect world by outlawing firearms...but its not a perfect world
any ways, thats just something to ponder
