I don't know if you ever rented a trailer down here, but it can be tough. The big guys will shoo you off their property as a single truck owner. Even with 4 trucks, Xtra and Ryder didn't feel I was worthy enough to submit a credit app.

You guys should check out NETS. it stands for north east trailer service. We lease reefers from them and I know they just opened a new branch in ft worth area. They are based from NJ where we are from. But they are a good company to deal with.

The way I see it is you can buy a new 53' step for 32k. If the used market holds it'll still be worth 20k in 10 years. That's $100/month. You can't rent one for that.

If you only want to get your feet wet to see how hot the water is, Remember this aint no simple job like many think it is and i advice to start with a regular 48 Flat like many do and than move to a Step. Give the folks at iloca services a call for a cheaper lease/rental but longer term or TNT trailers, more pricey but no long terms. You will be paying most likely around $900 a Month for a short term with tnt, They both help O/O.
But if you got experience, Buy you're own trailer, $900 a month is a bad ### trailer payment.
This is just an advice, you can do w.e the freak you want to do.

The problem I see is that it is very hard to run owner op in a tanker..
do you know of tanker companies that will let an o/o run like a deck--- meaning when and where you want??
If so can you pm me.

Ive been thinking about going to deck from tankers - just so i can run my life and go where and when i want.
