Even the cheapest dash cams are better than nothing. $300 is for the higher end dash cams. Regardless, I feel my freedom is worth at least that much or more. :)

Sad deal all around. Many semi crashes and sometimes its the 4wheeler that caused it.But the semi kills someone due to not enough following distance.See it all the time rigs tailgating cars and makes me nervous as heck seeing that..Drivers don't realize and think while driving the catastrophic results that could happen if an 80k vehicle rams into a car.

I have no problem seeing the good and bad, its not just the money I have had several great paying jobs. The truth is here since day one I have been treated great, making great money and work out of a DC with some great guys. The turnover rate you speak of does not exist at our DC no one has quit since I have been here. Most places have a waiting list for guys to transfer in. Try and get in Hope Mills NC see how long it takes you.

Funny how you have changed your feelings all of a sudden. I wont call you out or throw you under the bus but I know why. So I can understand you being bitter.

I have said everything i had to say in his defense what else would you like ? There are a lot of allegations and things to be sorted out. Until those are proven true or false I still stand behind him or anyone else in this situation. If indeed he stayed up for 24 hours on his day of and reported to work sleep deprived I have no sympathy for him. I will bet though that everyone of us have climbed behind the wheel at one time or another without the proper rest. One thing is for sure he didnt hit the road intending to kill anyone that day.

And yes Walmart will quickly dispose of him after this takes its course. I will say so far they have stood by him 100%

I smile every time I log in and see my pay stub yes sir I do, I bet you did to. The opportunity is here for anyone with a clean background to reap the same benefits. Is the job as good as it was back in the day ?I think so the only difference was not as many gov regulations as there is currently and the drivers received more in stock options etc...Walmart and the other mega carriers have to set the standards in the industry. Changes are going to happen some good some bad nothing we can do but except them or get out.

Is this job perfect ? No but its a #### good company that treats your great and you can earn a nice living working 5 days a week not 2 and 3 weeks on the road for chump change. I had a driver the other day from Knight tell me he would be lucky to make 40k this year I wouldn't even drive a truck for that.

So anyone considering Walmart sift through the good and bad stuff you read ask some of the guys here for honest advice. I have had several pm me and I did not sugar coat anything and actually told a couple to stay where they where at due to the good job they already had. Walmart is not for everyone .

I hope I never end up in this situation neither Tom thats why I dont judge people because it could happen to me. Even when someone bumps a yellow pole or curbs a rim I dont say anything because I would be the next to hit one. I do take a lot of pride in the fact that I do have 2 million accident and ticket free miles.

I dont wish what happened to Kevin or the victims on any driver or anyone.

So I will sit back and see how this unfolds as the facts unfold.

God Bless the victims and their families ,wishing thema speedy recovery

Wishing you the best as well Tom

I agree, but not when they expect drivers to use the cruise control in metro areas like here in Houston. Relying on the collision avoidance system with the cruise control on in a metro area is dangerous and I will not do it.

Ok I tried to read all of this but skipped some, especially the bickering.

So are they saying this guy was awake 24 hours as evidenced by Elog?
Here is why I ask. Sunday, my elog froze. I had to use paper because the guy who can dial in and fix it doesn't work Sunday. Therefore the elog showed duty or driving from 430am Sunday until it was fixed Monday. If something would have happened I would have been accused of the same thing. Not all the facts would have been considered but it would have been reported that way. Food for thought next time the elog does that. It has happened before.

There are allegations that he admitted to being awake for 24 hours prior to reporting to work . Friday was his first day at work.
