I have seen a couple of demos of loadboards, and all of them just display a phone number to call for each run. When I call the number, no one ever answers. I am wondering if this is because it is a free demo, or when I pay for the loadboard subscription this is what I will expect also? Is there a way I am provided with all of the info and can click a button stating I want that run and it is all setup?
Very simple quick question about load boards

So you guys are saying there is more than just a phone number to call to get you setup on a run? When I searched it shows pickup city, destination, and a phone number that no one answers. How does the paid service work?
-
Bout the same lol
no it'll have the alleged pickup and destination city, who the broker is, the mileage they are claiming on it, occasionally a rate, and a phone number, maybe a bit of detail as far as pu time/del time or if special handling/equipment is required.NewNashGuy Thanks this. -
Thanks. Do the brokers pick up the phone when you call?
-
Lately as soon as I put a search in on ITS the brokers are calling me. But to answer your question, yes, if it's during business hours they generally answer the phone. Once you get established you'll have your go to people for each area and will use the load boards less and less. I generally know who is going to have what I want in the areas I run and I mainly use the load boards to see what rates are posted and how much freight is available so I know how tight I can turn the screws when I'm negotiating and still get the load.

Email works great also you will have a copy of quotes and requirements prior to accepting the load. Most will answer quicker on email than getting them on the phone.

It's a real job trying to organize and get it all done, we have a dispatcher doing the load board business so far. Even with 2 of us in the truck, so far we haven't tried doing it all, but we are considering the possibility of taking on the whole job. Once we get a GPS for navigation and automate some of the logging we might be able to handle it. Even with that, trying to get by with just a smart phone is tough. I just got a laptop and printer to go with us. We're also swapping trucks, the old gas guzzler was too thirsty, switching to a diesel of some kind for awhile until I can get my own inventions developed.

Yeah ad a company driver there are times the dispatch cannot find me a load but if I know the area, ill shoot them a message to send me to a place nearby that I always picked up in the past and 10 minutes later I have an assignment picking up at that location. So some shippers always have available loads going out 24/7 eh? If I know I can get the loads I know I can do everything else with being an o/o.
