That wasn't quite what I meant, but I get your point. :)

No, I was referring to going there as a customer, not as a trucker.

Is there something funny about my response to Crappiejunkie?:?

Perhaps you'd like to share it with the rest of us who want a laugh too.

You forgot to cite your law.

    Not quite. They're "presumably" at-fault.

Repetition of assertions already soundly refuted suggest nothing flattering.

I'll wait for the trial and not judge at the moment. There just aren't enough facts out there for my taste. It doesn't look good for the driver, but I wouldn't join a lynch mob just yet.

I'll speculate, based on the few facts that have come out in the news, that the police got their information about his sleep habits from the shaken driver who ran his mouth at the scene. Either directly to an officer, or second hand to another witness. In any event, enough got said that they are looking into it hard.

I think it's been reported that this driver just returned to work off a 34 reset before starting his shift. Therefore, his ELD will report legal. There won't be any faults found with the ELD or the truck. Since he ran into the back of someone, I'm sure he'll get convicted of something. What that exactly is will be determined by the completed investigation.

It's probably not a stretch to speculate that he spent some of his home time at home in Jonesboro, GA. which is an 11-12 hr trip in his personal car from DE., both directions. I haven't seen any proof of that. Yet. The big jail time charges will come if any records exist that prove he made the journey from home to work immediately before his shift started. Any receipts, especially credit/debit card purchase of fuel or food along the way. Traffic cam footage. Witnesses.

Could go the other way too. Maybe he didn't go home and his bank or witnesses will prove it. Maybe he had a girl on the side in DE that will testify he was laying up asleep at her place several hours before he went to work. Or maybe he's on the down-low and he was laying up with another man? That could explain why that hasn't exactly come out in the news yet.

In any event, I hope that the investigation concludes before the celebrity is released from the hospital. Once that happens, this story will fall off the headlines and be hard to follow.

We all need to get together and start notifying our Congressmen, FMCSA, WHOEVER, about this stuff. I believe you when you say it's causing accidents. I've seen the potential personally.

What statement did Mr. Roper make "at the scene"? I wasn't aware that he'd made a statement to anyone at the scene that can be verified as coming from Mr. Roper. Nobody has verified the Twitter account. In court he said "not guilty" and "yes sir". Can you link to a news story that references the statement he purportedly made at the scene of the accident?

It's my understanding that there are lawsuits in the works from drivers. It would be most excellent if they get to class action status. Meanwhile for anyone that isn't actually injured I think having dash cams in said trucks and posting on Youtube some of the scary situations that have been happening would be very helpful to the cause, not only for the industry in general, but it might lend some credence to legal proceedings as well.

Sounds like operator error by lack of input from here. Input throttle-lift/braking to prevent exceeding 64 mph downgrade. Input throttle-lift/braking to prevent brake applications by OnGuard.

When your automatic computer-controlled safety features take control of your truck, they're also indicating a mistake on the part of the operator.
