Do the math. Say the company is willing to pay you.35 a mile. 10.000 miles a month times 12. -42000. Just don't dwell on how much time you're working to do that. (70 HRS?) A week. Or what you will spend on the road. Or what it well do to your health or relationships.

I haven't worked a full year as a driver yet, but I've already cleared $38,000. I average $1400-$1700 per week. I'm home every night, work 5 days per week, pay 0 in fuel, and get paid by the run...not to mention my company has a free buffet style cafeteria and profit sharing. I'm also non-union for what it's worth. At the rate I'm going, I'll clear $80,000 before the calender year is over. I'll let you know what I made at the end of the year if I remember.

I already posted in this a few pages back but figured seeing as this is now a what do you do for what you make thread, I'll update.
With what I made last year(just under 70) I was a tri axle gravel truck driver/mechanic/welder at the shop I drove for. If I wasn't driving I was fixing. Come winter time I would plow snow in pickups or backhoes and you guessed it..fix more broken junk!
Now I work for a local broker who we pull live bottom trailers for on the ore run here in town for the mines. I do 10-12 hour days with weekends off. Once every six weekends I am required to work but get to choose two days off during the week(for saving hour purposes on logs). Don't touch the truck other then a pre and post trip!!
**edit**
I have been averaging 2100-2400 every two weeks CLEAR. -
$2603 this week cash (8 days) plus $170 in tips. 3000 miles 16 stops. Two weeks on,one week off. (2 weeks off if I want)

Sounds great. Maybe people should post if they are a union driver, LTL or drive for a company. Only so much of the USA has unions, or ones that the average person can get into. And what your areas cost of living is. A driver in CA. Told me he made 35 bucks an hour, after watching my jaw drop. He told me his house was 500.000 dollars(normal for his area he said) and he barely scraped by each month.

I should gross about $750,000 then take away the $715,000 fantasy tax I pay at the end of the year.

-
Non union. I drive my friends truck hauling cars. Better than any company job or LP I had. Extremely low cost of living in WI but my commute costs $400 a month.
