road medic on our buses you cant get the reds on without the flashing yellow on and you have to open the door to get the red sign out and the red lites on they are made that way just for that reason you seen in the video. i have five stops on two lane highway and they are the stops i worry about the most. b safe out there

Maybe so and good to know.

I have seen the ones in several states actually driving with them on. I had one that even had the stop sign out while moving.

So, when I drive I watch for them to stop at any time.

Any professional driver should be aware of the school issues.

I've been through that exact stretch of road 4 times this week. It used to be one of the most dangerous roads in the state until they routed it around Paynesville and put a few stretches of 4 lane in. Its wide open with wide shoulders now. No excuse for that driver to not have seen that bus. What difference does it make when the bus driver turned its flashing lights on? It was slowing to a stop in the roadway. No different then a vehicle stopping to make a left turn. Passing on the shoulder is illegal in MN unless there is a sign indicating a bypass lane.

The bus driver reports: The bus driver, Mike Egerman, said he had put out his stop arm, as he does for every stop. A vehicle had already stopped behind the bus and so did another coming toward the bus.

There was a stopped vehicle behind the bus when the truck had to veer onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.....and there was a stopped vehicle coming toward the bus......me thinks the bus driver did what he was supposed to do and the truck driver had to take evasive maneuvers due to his failure(s) in driving his truck. It appears to me he is 100% responsible for the incident that could have killed the girl. The driver was extremely lucky no one was injured or killed due to his driving.
