How come after eight hours in the sleeper it says I have 8 hours to drive in the top right? Why doesn't it reset after ten hours?

The eight hours is before you are required to take a 30 minute break.

I am going by memory, if you are on e-logs, say you drive to the shipper 2 hours you can put it in the S/B line 2 it will stop your 14 clock must be in the s/b for 8 hours then you can drive for 9 hours
I never could run into this scenario it was better to take a 10 hour reset -
It is my understanding that when you are on elogs it will show you remaining drive time. You are never allowed to drive more then 8 hours straight. You have to take a 30 minute break. A ten hour sleep break will reset your 14 hour clock but you still can only drive 8 hours without a 30 minute break. That is even if you skip the pretrip.
Actually, now I am confused. If you were on duty before you took your 8 hour sleeper break you can only drive for 6 hours - the number of hours you were on duty prior to going to the sleeper. -
You can only get 8.
Once you take your 30min.,before your 8 runs out,you will be given your remaining 3 hrs.
Hope that makes sense? Take 30 within 8,and get the other 3 to complete 11.
Edit..Are you set up otr,or local on your e-logs?
My elogs would allow an 8 hr break if not in sleeper birth(off duty).
When setup for otr you had to take a 10 in sleeper,if I remember correctly -
Is it possibly the ridiculous 8/2 split that is showing up on your qc?
-
I considered that which led to some of my confusion. The problem is that the split doesn't extend it beyond the 6 hours as it does not reset the 14.

dot is not going to let you work more then 8 hours in a row on line 3 and / or 4
