For orientation you'd be sent to Indianapolis probably, maybe Carlisle if you were closer to there. Pretty sure they closed Seville because freight dried up a lot in that area and they determined Columbus was a better spot to base out of.

If I go back to where I was raised I believe Carlise is closer than Indianapolis by 1-2 hours. My parents house in about 15 mins from the Wintersville terminal

they military recruiter actually helped me find a trucking school, got me the job i now have as a company driver and all of this within days of my eas. the amount you will receive from the va depends on how long you were in. i was in 4 years usmc and get a good set amount each month from the va which decreases over time until its paid out.

Yeah I finally got a response from thier military recruiter. They told me I could apply and get hired about 2 weeks out from my available date. I am going to take 3 months of terminal leave so I will be drawing pay and San Diego BAH rates for 3 months. I'll probuly spend a week getting my family settled in ohio and then go to work driving so I will have all of my extra pay from double dipping going into my buy a truck fund. 6 months as a company driver and I'll change over to Choice and buy a truck( No Lease Purchase). Ive been in 7 years so far and I defiantly feel like I have been given the tools to be successful during that time.

live and learn right? Best thing I see in what you posted was you taking responsibility for what was/is in your control. I think you'll do well here.

Make sure about this apprenticeship program. I think the money you get eats into your GI Bill.May want to save that for later, in taking other business admin etc courses?

I wont do the apprenticeship program. I can do 1 class a month online and get $1250 a month until the GI bill runs out( $800 national rate BAH + $450 college fund kicker). The juice isnt worth the squeze on that one unless there is some details I'm missing. Besides that program is a year and I'm only doing 6 month as a company driver before changing. University of Phoenix classes are such a joke that I can spend an hour a week in the back of my truck taking a class and in the end come out with another degree and some sweet cash every month.

I've already got 2 Associates and a Bachalors since I've been in. To me a degree is just something to decorate your wall with, it doesnt make you any smarter.

Sure it makes you smarter you now have a degree and realize it doesn't make you any smarter, without that degree you'd of never been smart enough to know you aren't any smarter........... Wait a minute that was my impression of a scholar reasoning why a degree makes perfect sense.........
