I have a really close friend that went with CRST from the beginning of his career. He's 7 months in to his 8 month contract and repeatedly gets bent over by them every day. You dont know how hard I laughed after I get done reading the original post. Long and thoughtful and informative. Then the very first comment says nothing but "this company is CRST isn't it?" HAHAHAHA Cmon I know I'm not the only one laughing right now.

GIve Con-Way Truckload a call. Ask for Keturah Wheat in Recruiting. Con-Way is a stand up company that cares about its drivers.

What if you were fired instead? Any suggestions for that?

It doesn't matter what someone has done to you. The correct thing is still the correct thing. What is it that you are trying to gain by telling a new boss bad stuff about the old boss? All you do is show the new boss that you are going to talk bad about him to the next person.

You will never find a new company that says, "Gee, we are sorry that happened to you. Why don't you take your wife on a Cruise? Our treat and when you come back, your new truck will be sitting there waiting for you."

You slam the old company and if something goes wrong at the new company, the new company will make sure to agree with the first company on your DAC. Never volunteer any information about anything you don't have to.

Um. Im going to pick the other side for a moment.

You told a guy, who is leased on to a company, to drive 24 hours to fix a door handle? Who would pay for his fuel? How would he cover his fixed expenses? He wouldn't make money for 2 or 3 days. The lease contracts are set up by bad companies, so that the driver has to hustle and can barely stay above water. I agree a door handle has to be fixed, but losing several days of income would cause me to delay it until I was close to a repair facility from a run.

I have heard stories about drivers being behind by two weeks on truck bills and having no choice but to take what the company dispatches them too.

The personal space issue that's just respecting people, which is hit or miss at this point. Abandoning someone is a crime. Yes everything I have heard CRST is horrid.

Best of luck for a better company.

I'll hire you, 1099. I'll pay you 35% of what the truck makes, after fuel, load confirmations dispatched in email so that there's no questions. I pay tolls, you pay your food. I'll personally train you two weeks.

Never let someone pay you on a 1099 to drive their truck. Anyone offering to pay you on 1099 should be a huge red flag and cause you to seriously question their integrity and motivations as an employer

Why exactly is it bad? I don't know the purpose of the 1099 tax form. Do companies do this often?

It's not a question of integrity. It's way simpler than that: I don't wanna pay for his health insurance. What integrity? You don't know how to do your taxes, 8thnote?
