What is the minimum pay you will work for? Set that price and stick to it. Then when a company offers all you have to do is say yes or no. If more people said no, the rate would increase.

Tyson doesn't hire until you have 9 months. They hire out of school for a certain # of days. I'm looking at QUEST. .47 cpm, west coast runs.

Good luck running team if it works for you. I know I can not run team because sometimes I can not get along with myself. I would look at west coast produce hauling companies.

Paryki every team carrier, including Covenant, post their non per diem rates. So when you see 47 cents that is all taxable income. Don't let the bigger numbers fool you. They could include all stop pay, detention pay, holiday and vacation pay. They could mean a hazmat endorsement only pay. I know we are all in for the money but you need to look at equipment, home time, lanes, drop and hook vs live load, 401k options, etc. Every driver starts looking at the "what can I make right now" instead of the entire picture of a company. So they sucker you in on a bigger pay rate only to find out it's non per diem, they give you a 2011 pro star with 550,000 miles on it, bad to poor insurance options, and NO guarantee of miles. So you show up with the "I'm going to be a millionaire" attitude at your new company only to find yourself in the shop 2 weeks out of the first month. How's that 47 cents look now? Layover at $50-100 per day won't get you anywhere. Every driver deserves equipment that's safe and performs as expected.
My wife and make 54 cents per mile. It's a flat rate non per diem because we are a little older than most and need the social security benefits to be higher in a few years. But we earn every bit of that 54 cents. We are on pace to run about 200,000 miles this year and we will be off about 9-10 weeks. That's well over $100k and we get to take off when needed. We could work more but don't want to. We just got a brand new 2015 Cascadia Evolution that runs well and sleeps nicely. It's ours until we put about 400,000 miles on it then we get another new one. We invest in Covenants 401k and have made some good money buying our stock over the last couple of years. This place works for us and we will be here til we retire in a few years. It's not worth it to jump all over the place.
Good luck to you paryki on your decision.double yellow Thanks this.
