I don't understand that front axle overweight thing. We had cabovers here, and were able to scale it. Its not euro thing either. Scanias had to run legal here too. With European setup with front of the trl almost touching back of the cab front axle will be heavy. But with gap between cab and trl here it shouldn't be a problem.

I think the set back axle has something to do with the wieght of the engine/ trans being mostly on the front axle.............. But I could be wrong.
-
Modern coes are a lot heavier than they used make them, a typical Scania 4 wheeler is about a ton heavier than an average conventional tandem tractor in the US, most of that weight is on the front, those cabs are all steel and built very strong to meet Swedish crash protection laws, also like cat said the set back axles throws a lot of that weight forward that's why in Australia Scania only sells the small cab and even with that the batteries have to be moved cos they just about make it under the limit there
-
Nah, I don`t think so, we would use the space for even more comfort
(Longline)
Think of the showers and toilets etc. you could fit on that NA wheelbase
-
We could end up with 200 inch sleepers easy !

Maybe tcab and longline http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YdACvbbP-Tc/ULH-lcgBhaI/AAAAAAAAb-0/a61ygMxPPq4/s1600/IMG_8285.jpg
i like a conventional, gives you a feeling of safety even though in most crashes you are still probably better off in a euro Coe except when you rearend another truck, I like looking down the bonnet as I drive, I agree with you though. Even a Scania longline has far more room inside than any 80" cab on the road but would be nice to have both -
They may not be much for looks, and I'm not saying you'd want to jump out of a hood for one, but drive one and I promise it WILL change your perception of cabovers.
-
I openly invite you disbelievers to come and visit my beautiful home-country. Let`s have test-drive with some of the EURO-cabovers, especially Scania. And a little sauna and beer afterwards
-
I dont think you'll get many takers for the sauna lol but I'll go anywhere where beer is promised -
You are not the disbeliever but .. more the merrier
