I always get dirty looks when I'm anywhere near the posted speed limit. Hills/mountains, construction zones, doesn't matter. I'm the ####### for putting safety and my career first.

I am surpised your trainer didnt teach you how to use a cluth and stab braking
The common practice taught IS one gear lower than the gear used to climb and stab braking which is apply brakes to slow you down in 5mph increments.. in other words if you went up in seventh down shift to sixth at the top of the hill. brake at lets say 30 mph and take to 25 .. repeat till complete -
Keep doing it and you will be driving and making good money instead of whining and jumping companies trying to make ends meet. Best companies require the drivers to have good records and attitudes. You can sleep at Loves, TA weeks at a time and make $30-40k a yr or be a professional , sleep where ever you

Safest way bis to use low gears or may be same gears which you used while going uphill. Never use neutral as it will put strain on the brakes.
