They do, according to their website. They do NOT train n00bs, but they "have" a school.

Trish, I can relate to your post of not wanting to haul meats nor animal. I, too, am a vegetarian and wondering what company to work for/with after training. Not sure of what school to utilize, tho!

    Trish in SC Thanks this.

With a comment like that, you should have called yourself "semi" retarded.
Just another perspective, choose wisely, dear.
Your "perspective" is just another reason why women won't get into the industry.
I've dealt with all the atrocities men dish out towards women in this business. Many times I'd get phone calls in the middle of the night, my girlfriend would be crying because some jerk was messing with her.
And yet here you are telling a woman this business isn't for her.

The O/P is yet another entitled, starry eyed and slight of mind entrant into an industry that couldn't care less about who you are or what you want. I love new drivers, they always think *they* will be the ones to have a COMPLETELY different experience than everyone else going the route of a CDL mill. Whether you're getting a nice little hotel room and free breakfast with Millis, or you're shacking up in a smelly dorm with CRST, the end result of a CDL mill is the always same; You WILL owe money with interest and you WILL NOT be afforded the freedom to move freely within your career until ALL of that money is paid back.

The best part about it is that you can literally tell these noobs a MILLION times that CDL Mills are NOT the way to go, and they won't listen. You can show them factual evidence of failure rates, safety data and total cost over and over again, and they'll still sign their life away in a heart beat. And you know why; Because CDL mills are EASY! Truck driving is literally EVERY LAZY PERSONS answer to a new lease on life. They think that two weeks of truck driver training will turn them into a lean mean money making machine - a productive citizen with steady employment - a new entrant into a lifestyle of "endless vacations" and "untold freedoms." Then, of course, they actually go to work, realize they're on the hook for thousands, can't stomach more than a week behind the wheel, and quit. Now their CDL is worthless, they owe TONS of money, they're wasted a month or two of their life on nothing, and they have nothing to show for it.

If you've really got your heart set on trucking, get your CDL through community college program. I know you won't, but at least I tried...

This is a great post, you said it all here. You can't blame people for trying, for some, it's literally their last hope, which, sadly, is how these companies are getting drivers. I tried to explain that above, but must have worded it wrong, and KW10001 jumped all over me, which is a shame, as I know what I'm talking about, just have a hard time putting it into words. I guess it's kind of like people buying a used car, that they have no idea what's involved, or the repairs it may need, all they know, is they need a car and rather than listening to someone that knows, they blaze ahead on their own, totally unprepared for what lies ahead. Thanks again for wording it properly, thecowboystate.

"at least [you] tried"??? You're kidding, right? The only thing you've "tried" here is to be degrading and misogynistic. At that you have succeeded. As far as my being "entitled" goes the only thing I feel entitled to is for you not to act like an a-hole and assume you know how I think or feel. When you do that to people, you aren't being helpful, you are being an a-hole.

What is it with you people? It seems, if a guy on the thread offers "advice" to the little woman, he is a major jerk, yet if he doesn't notice (or reference) that I'm female, he is professional and helpful. You might try it sometime. The majority of people are WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS on this forum. Again, you might try it sometime.

If you want to recommend a community college over a cdl mill, it goes like this: "hey, I recommend that you go to a community college instead of a cdl mill; you'll owe less and not be stuck in a bad place". See, that wasn't hard, was it? (And it had not a darn thing to do with what is or isn't between my legs.) Now you try it. Maybe you should've gone to a community college to learn manners, those manners mills "couldn't care less about who you are or what you want".

I read what you wrote and I wanted to try and back you up. I don't even think you have quite the level or anger or resentment that I have towards so many new drivers, and you were definitely unfairly attacked. For those who genuinely enter into this industry - via mill - as a last resort, I feel for them. But it's the smart ones who quickly realize they've made a mistake and move on who I truly *respect* Those like the OP, who are disgustingly arrogant when they really know nothing, or those who believe they are the exception to every hard working rule...those are the people I cannot stand. Trucking is one of the least socially and environmentally conscious industries you could ever expect to work in, and here you have this woman with NO EXPERIENCE sitting here telling us she'll do everything she can NOT to haul things like packaged meat because shes a *veg-it-tar-ian* It's almost laughable, but hey, that's like 80 percent of new drivers for you right there...

For various reasons, not everyone can swing the private CDL school or community college CDL school. For some, the trucking company CDL schools are the ticket to a new career. I don't call them CDL mills; I just don't recommend certain ones.
