    Floattingears,
    Your all over the place!
You left a taxi job, jumped into trucking,
got hitched with a company (mill) that didn't fit you.
Now your giving history lessons on American economy.

What exactly are you looking for?
Your ideal situation isn't gonna just sprout out of the ground.
You came here for advice, and to vent a little,we all have.
Get a job, move on,this horse has been beat,or move into politics.
Its what you have to play with, nothing more, nothing less

Sorry I was just agreeing with SCOOTS...I am looking for work may have something been talking to a number of companies that were posted here (dont worry I didnt mention anyones name your all safe .

Its just a trucking job ...Im listening and looking at all the places readers and forum members have offered.I have lived a lot and done alot
I just do the best I can ....everything happens for a reason......I just have not got to that point where I know ...why yet .

I have gotten a lot of good advice and have been following up on, the leads .In the mean time Im just answering comments .
And filling ten yrs of former employment history is time consuming none of these applications have cut and paste resumes or emplyment history .....guess thats why that steno job offered to me a few comments back ...just wouldnt work for me..

@OP- Its all good man. My comment was more or less to explain why things are like they are. Don't get overly political outside the politics section, the mods don't like it cause it just causes flame wars... which I enjoy, but others who get butthurt easily don't so much and TTR is here to help people.

Other posters have already stated your dilemma... you have all the answers: OTR sucks, sleepy truckers kill people, crappy pay, life sucks... yada, yada, yada... QQ. The megas are the poison coursing through the veins of this industry. Newbies are the only people who will take their abuse. You actually did right by yourself by telling WERNER where to stick it but you did wrong by yourself by putting yourself in the situation in the first place. Unless you have a few felonies, DUIs, and love to smoke crack I wouldn't recommend WERNER to anyone... you just saw deep inside the butt crack of the industry and are making assumptions based on the smell. Most of the crap in your first post was all about trying to justify you being a quitter (when I have to justify something, its because I did something wrong). Let me set you straight on a few things...

-I enjoy seeing the country and living the adventuring life.
-I make more money in a truck than I did working a job that requires a college degree.
-I'm home every weekend and in actuality have more free time than I did being stuck in a cubicle 65 hours/wk.
-I take showers and usually have at least a couple hundred bucks on me.
-I don't have to sell anything to anyone. I was a top sales guy and I hated it. I'd rather put in an honest days work.
-My company never disrespects me and does their best not to waste my time.
-Unloading keeps me in shape, its like getting paid to go to the gym.
-I sleep every night because if I don't I could kill someone. Its called responsibility and common sense.
-I get angry but I never let it affect my driving (only my backing).
-I absolutely love driving... its a challenge because no two days are the same. Office work is Groundhog Day.
-I own my home free and clear so I'm kind of the opposite of a hobo.
-My friends and family have a new respect for me because I'm doing something they can't do and make good money doing it.

So that's me... I think most people who stick with this feel the same. What pissed off the "marine guy" was you putting down the job he loves to scapegoat the fact you quit. I say good for you... You said screw you to the BIG BLUE SCREW. You just won the game. You did something 95% of Werner employees wish they'd have done. Now its time to man up and get with a good company... Chinatown already gave you a good start. I would highly recommend you call the companies on his list.

Need some words of encouragement? "Don't be a beeyotch"- make that your new mantra. Get pissed at yourself for even whining in the first place, let your family be your motivation to succeed. You think OTR Life sucks? I'll tell you what sucks... sitting around begging for a job, collecting unemployment, awaiting eviction while your friends and family look at you like a total loser. That life blows 1000% more than being a " road hobo". Time to grow a pair my friend, you owe it to yourself. Unless maybe... you like being a victim and really don't want a job... being a real hobo sucks 10,000% more than being a road hobo especially when your family ends up homeless and destitute as well. You have a Class A CDL- right now its more valuable than 90% of college degrees... USE THE ##### THING:biggrin_255:

you took the words out of my mouth, this guy sounds like a big whiner, I did a year contract with a mega carrier to get a cdl , I did my research and knew it wouldn't be the best experience ever, but hell I been to Kuwait so it couldn't be that bad, yeah I was out 3 weeks, even 4 sometimes but it was something my wife, and son talk about prior to me taking this job. It's call sacrificing, I ran hard my first year, 6 months with a partner who was goal minded, notice that prior while in training and avg 6500-7000 mi weekly. We also had our share of breakdowns too, we got paid for it, usually 2-3 days turnaround, I learn a lot my first year and still learning but now I have a better gig, home every weekend doing flat bed jobs with a different company I didn't take out a loan for a cdl I gave them a year ouf my life so I earn my cdl IMO, Sometimes you have to Sacrifice to get somewhere

funniest thing I have read in a long time floatingears. I went through pretty much the same experience as you with Werner, but after the training was over I decided that trucking in general was not for me, and went back to school to avoid it all together. Sometimes I sort of regret my decision, but posts like yours help to remind me that I was not really cut out for the lifestyle, you know, no friends, no family, no vacations, junk food, no exercise, driving 10 or 11 hours everyday, stuck in hotels for days on end in the middle of nowhere, being stuck without a bathroom, waiting at the DC for hours, getting lost in a major city pulling 53 foot trailer around, driving through snow storms, wind storms in Wyoming... glad some people like to to do it, but I guess I wimped out, so I tip my hat to you all.

It doesn't have to start out OTR ...there plenty of other options with having a CDL ....i know they tell you guys gotta have 2yrs exp. ....that's bolonie !!! There's garbage trucks ,beverage, hospital supply, LTL ,....if they don't let you drive a truck tell them you also drive a forklifts .....be resourceful and persistent ,this is business ....tell the mega fleets to get it there themselves and hold out .....WITHOUT DRIVERS THEY DON'T HAVE A JOB ...REMEMBER THIS
