Do hydraulic operators, construction operators, crane operators, surgeons, helicopter, and pilots get sleep anea tests to make sure they are getting enough non distracted sleep? Just wondering?

It would NOT be a surprise if these individuals also got sleep apnea tests.

These positions are jobs that require exceptional alertness, concentration, focus, and stamina with very little to no room for error.

I hold both fixed wing and rotor blade ratings and have never taken a sleep apnea test. I did get 36 on my ACT and 1580 on my SAT.

I remember one year when cranes were crashing into things all of the time due to user error. I am sure they introduced some type of safety enforcement.

Hi RogerThat72, I have a friend that runs a dozer, and while they are very safety conscious, I don't remember him saying anything about sleep apnea. Probably, mostly when the public is at risk.:biggrin_25518:

NO, we are the only ones and when we actually become professions in more than name only, we can fight this.

I have a pilots license with commercial, instrument, and multi-engine ratings. Been flying over 25 years. Never once had a sleep test or even had it mentioned at any renewal of my medical card

FAA med examiners are far more interested in blood pressure/heart issues. Those are the big ones for us.

I think they should test everyone for everything and also include a lie detector test.

if they did that then the lunch counters at all the truckstops would be empty........no more supertruckers there to thrill us with stories about hauling nuclear weapons or running scales while being escorted by US marshals lol we wouldn't have anyone left to look up to and wish we could be like hehehe
