Do hydraulic operators, construction operators, crane operators, surgeons, helicopter, and pilots get sleep anea tests to make sure they are getting enough non distracted sleep? Just wondering?

It would NOT be a surprise if these individuals also got sleep apnea tests.
These positions are jobs that require exceptional alertness, concentration, focus, and stamina with very little to no room for error. -
I hold both fixed wing and rotor blade ratings and have never taken a sleep apnea test. I did get 36 on my ACT and 1580 on my SAT.

I remember one year when cranes were crashing into things all of the time due to user error. I am sure they introduced some type of safety enforcement.

NO, we are the only ones and when we actually become professions in more than name only, we can fight this.

I have a pilots license with commercial, instrument, and multi-engine ratings. Been flying over 25 years. Never once had a sleep test or even had it mentioned at any renewal of my medical card
FAA med examiners are far more interested in blood pressure/heart issues. Those are the big ones for us.Last edited: Jun 19, 2014
