I can say this with pride. My Wife got as dirty as I, told me where to go, (she liked that part) learned to back the truck. She felt it was too big for her to drive. I never pushed her. 72' & up is a lot. She always said" I have the best job on the planet! I know where my husband is at all times, and can tell him where to go. :)

I don't really think we need more female truckers.
    This is a males job.

    That should get some flames...

But really, why is there a push to get more women into trucking? It just does not make sense to me.
Unless you are already married with a supportive spouse or going into this with a boyfriend/husband as a team, this is a pretty lonely place to be. If you need social interaction, trucking is not the place to be - especially for a new driver going OTR.
And a woman with a family, or the hopes of one, well, ... Kids need mom around. A dad is nice to have around too, but...
There are really not very many good prospects out here for serious relationships.

I guess I have mixed feelings.

Women in trucking is a good thing, to a point.
Just as men in trucking is good to a point.
But the lifestyle, I think, is better suited to men that are motivated enough to making a good living for their family - or men that are simply riding the rail in lieu of something better in life.

It's simple, increase the pay, increase time off, and raise the hiring standards....you will see an increase in total quality of drivers....not just women. But who would want to do that? The industry seems satisfied with smelly, dirtbag drivers who run over celebrities, cant park their rig correctly, and got a card in the mail that says: "Welcome to America, enclosed is your CDL."

In this profession there isn't one thing a man does that I can't do.I met Ray my boyfriend at kb and we're going on 3 yrs together. When he first met me he wanted me to act like the helpless female so I did just that.He pulled the fifthwheel pin unhooked my trls you name he did it and loved it.He wanted to feel like the strong macho type in front of me so I acted like the weak female, lol. All the others drivers teased me about it.They were just jealous because no one spoiled them like Ray did me,lol.Which by the way I was the only female driver there out of 27 local drivers.

Well, it's nice to see some honesty in a relationship.
I like to spoil my woman, but I like it even more when she doesn't pander to me in the process.

Personally, I would rather you be very strong in the areas that you are strong while letting me take up the slack in the weak areas.
    And visa versa.

Nothing needs to change. Women just need to be made aware the industry is open to them. Millions of unemployed women looking for jobs and trucking could use at least half a million of them, but they don't know these jobs are available. Evidently, the unemployment offices aren't making them aware of trucking jobs.

I prefer to not be contacted because that's all I have to say about it.
