land he's over gross, I've only had one overweight load, it was 2000 over gross, the guy at the shipper said their scale was just awesome, so I weighed on their scale and it showed me legal. But I was still fresh out of training and the words if Will at Fontana saying don't trust the shipper were ringing in my head, glad I scaled that, because the 49er scale in Sacramento showed me 82000 gross. You bet I had them rework that,,,,,

no onsite scale at shipper? should be, otherwise how will they determine correct billing for consignee?

edit, just reread back further. another relay? If so, a convo with dbl and their boss is in order. This can impact not only your license but your wallet if pulled in.

One of our guys got a ticket from a MI coop for a bridge law violation last fall, but it was for the tandems too far forward. Your fuel burn will decrease your gross by about 8 lbs/gal; that's about 15 gallons until you're legal on the gross weght.

I'd run it, but not if another driver is involved... it's not right to be sticking someone else with an illegal load. If you're going to dodge scales, be aware you may encounter DOT with portable scales on the secondary net on weekdays during the day... better to run 'em at night.

Yeah another relay...had them rework it. I get relays all the time. This is the second week in a row that I delivered to chicago, picked up a relay from nearby and took it to gary. Both times were nightmares, 4 hours plus wait. Also both times the load following that have been 2-3 stop loads in detroit or grand rapids.

Just to make sure I'm not getting completely hosed by my dbl, I figured I'd ask yall. Why no short haul pay on relays? It really sucks to waste half a day on a live load you're going to take 20 miles.

well I doubt DBL knows before hand its overweight. But I would address the relays of late and your unpaid time for such. As for the pay thing, thats a SNI deal which sucks. And they CLAIM its costs them $100 for relaying that load.

But for sure raise your concerns about the wasted time, he/she might throw you a bone with a one time expense. But stand up for better dispatching. AND the overweights with no info attached. THEY can address that on their end with that drivers dbl. Or should .

Come on driver, use your brain. Who benefits when you don't get short haul pay on those? Would you believe the company doctor's apology for his big finger if he had both hands on your shoulders during the exam? Because in both cases you are getting screwed!
