Save your money go to a community college or trade school will charge you half of what the trucking companies and will most likely train you better.

As far as sight seeing, well may be if you manage your time but for the most all TA, Pilots, Loves or Flying Js look pretty much the same.

The roads are for the most part the same unless you are running the Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey turnpike those roads are horrendous but not as bad the ones near Chicago or Detroit.

Rural areas everywhere in the country are pretty much the same two lane highway weather its upstate New York or Mississippi.

Oh and never trust your GPS in Ohio and PEN it will always try to take you through Amish country for whatever reason. If you are running east of the Mississippi get ready to see Cincinnati over and over and over again.

I bring a long board and when im stuck at a shipper/reciever i bust it out and explore what's around me. Sometimes i get lucky. Most of the time im in the middle of nowhere.

can be done with strategic use of 34 hour restarts. One 34 at a company yard in Portland took the MAX train into town and looked around, one restart at Sierra Sids in sparks NV was a day in Reno. Recently took one at a yard in the LA area and toured Hollywood! Yes it can be done....

I went to a local school (not company sponsored) here in Phoenix paid for with the WIA grant. Fairly simple process and they paid for everything including the hazmat endorsement application fee. Worked out pretty good for me, when I went through they were providing grants up to $4000, probably still the same. Just do a google search for WIA grant in your area and im sure you'll find something. Just need to stay employed using your CDL for 1 year after you graduate, doesn't matter where you get to pick the company you want to work for, lots of work in Texas.

While I agree truck driving is not a vacation.. you do get to see some cool sights.. I do love driving through the mountains, or even the rolling hills of Iowa make for some beautiful scenery... certaily I have a better view, and a changing view, then someone stuck in a cubicle looking at a computer screen all day...

I spent a while with Schneider bulk and I live in Dallas. Apparently they are now paying for school if you sign a year contract. Schneider bulk was good to me and I would highly recommend that path. There is a member called Firespock on here that is doing just that, contact him.

The correct term for multiple moose's is - Meese.
At least, I think so. I made up the term while playing GalCiv2 for my race.

And there needs to be 'their'.
