Newsflash! As of today I am officially a member of the Pumpkin Patch! Finally passed the dreaded PWS yesterday and officially started today. Boy that pool felt good yesterday when we got back. I think I found the pitcher of orange Kool Aid that LE was drinking from. I will try to stay sober and positive. I must say that the crew has been very professional and helpful as far as answering everyone's questions. Our group has 15 people in it and most are western 11 drivers.
Just wanted to let everyone know, especially mickimause, that I am back and here to stay and not planning on abandoning the thread. I will keep a running account as to how it is going. Everyone stay safe. I'm 10-10 and on the side.
Talk to me about why...

After a solid week of skills enhancement, classroom, and CBT's I am waiting for my TE to arrive. His power unit is in the shop so I may be re-assigned a new TE. Stay tuned!
I'll have to admit that everything from the hotel (Best Western Ontario) to the training has been a very positive experience. I am looking forward to Phase II out on the road and then finishing up next week after completing Phase III. Once I'm on the road this week, I will try to give an update or two as we go along.
Until then, be safe!
Lars91B20H8 and mickimause Thank this. -
Just made it back this fine Friday evening with my TE. Everything went well including my first run at the "grape vine." Both sides. We stayed in Southern Cal and Arizona for the most part. Next week soft skills and test out and then assigned a truck. If there are any newbies that want to ask a question, fire away. I will be happy to answer any questions if I can. Be Safe!
Larsmickimause and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
Glad to hear it's going well for you!
Thanks for updating -
E-logs yesterday, trip planning today and some yard work, more class room and yard work tomorrow and test out on Thursday. They sure keep you busy! Looking forward to moving past these three weeks and getting on the open road. I don't know if I am going to Phoenix to pick up my truck or back to Vegas for a few days before I get going. Also, I appreciate the informative staff that has been guiding us all through this journey. Their steadfast patience is remarkable! (Well most of them) I will let everyone know how Thursday goes. Be safe!

Sorry for the wait, but its official. I am patiently waiting to find out where to pick up my truck. In the mean time I have been tackling my "honey do" list at home and spending quality time with my wife, son & his wife, and two dogs before I embark on my journey. Not without a little drama, from what I heard, everyone in my group that made it to SQT's passed. Now its time for all of us to join all of you fine drivers on the dusty road. I'll check back with my first assignment. Be safe!
LarsTennMan, sadwar, mickimause and 1 other person Thank this. -
Great thread have read the whole thing. So informative. My orientation starts next Friday in Guelph, Ontario. Lots of apprehension, but we will see what we will see!

Sitting in the Portland OC waiting on a PMB...doing a restart (hardly ever re-start, mostly run off of re-cap)...10,000+ miles per month...
Worst part of the job/the industry...the absurd dialog of political idiocy. Second is a toss up between screwed up directions and shippers who don't really care about HOS issues.
Love Pilot sausage, egg and cheddar cheese muffins...very fattening though
Enjoying the job, enjoying the life, I try not to listen when the stupid starts to rant. Waiting for football season!!!

I thought you had hung up your driving beret and sheepskin gloves in order to open a hybrid Cantonese Taco cart. Welcome back
mickimause Thanks this.
