That is true in some cases, but in this case I don't think I could have. I had a really high paying.. long load.. that bumped that week's revenue up pretty well.

From up in Nappannee IN to Kingman AZ. I ran down back roads to the I-70 from where I was at in Nappannee.. Could have gone across the rt 6 to I-80 and through Chicago stuff and then down I-55 but have some time and figured I would cut of some miles going down back roads so what the heck! Took awhile tho.. Small towns..lost my way a couple times ..construction zones. Took me about 4 1/2 hours to go about 174 miles.. Not to bad I guess.. After that ..Hammered down across I 70 through rest of IN, IL and landed over here in MO about 75 miles West of Saint lewy. 434 miles today..Pretty easy day and now have about 500 miles to go today.
I average 400 to 500 miles a day..It actually is probably less.
Personally I keep my clock running and work of my recap. To me it makes my days on the road a lot less stressful. Last week I had to run hard ..ie..630 ish mile for couple days to make up for a schedule gone bad due to road closure and other time consuming things. When I need to run hard I can but for the most part don't have to, don't want to and do just fine. Just the way I roll...My home time is where I reset the 34.
High five to you guys that run 10 or 11 hours a day my hat is off to ya!
Picked another load (cheap) to get me home from AZ where I will be taking a few days off for the 4th and getting some things done around the house on my to do list. Should land in Riverside CA by the 25th.. The load has an appointment at 5AM on 26th so should have plenty of time from here to get it done!Last edited: Jun 21, 2014

I am one of those that has been maxing out my hours and running out every week. This week I told myself to run off recap and slow down a bit and so far it's been working pretty well. It may catch up with me next week, but hopefully not before I get home. Not the best revenue week with about $4200 running about 2400 miles. Light loads, dropped my speed down to 65 from 70 + , so burning a little less fuel. I'm still learning and know there's a lot of room for improvement, but if I can do similar every week on avg., I can live with that.

I work 7 days a week when on the road, but I also take 12 to 14 hour breaks, and at least one day a week I have a short day and only drive 4 to 6 hours. Plus I don't like taking 34 hour resets out on the road .. Nothing to do basically.. In less you plan on being or going somewhere of significance like family, friends, amusements or resort. Usually a 34 hour restart your stuck at a truck stop in God knows where hanging out in your truck...uhmm that bores the heck out of me..lol
Basically I just plan loads around running a 8 to 9 hour drive/on-duty day with one 6 hour drive/on-duty day a week (400 to 500 miles a day depending on where you are). Keep my speed down to 60 to 65 MPH and enjoy life out here. In the event things get screwy and my plan gets messed up with delays I usually have plenty of cushion to run hard a couple of days if necessary to meet schedule and then just even my hours out by running couple shorter days in the week. I have more flexibility this way in my opinion. I can run for months this way if necessary. Usually tho I get a reset in at the house every 3 to 4 weeks now with plenty of stop by's/overnights in between. . -
Knocked down 505 miles yesterday putting me in Ok about 100 miles from TX.. Should be able to do an easy 540 miles today running across the 40. Delivery is on Monday and only 950 miles to go!

In New Mexico now taking my 30 then onward to probably Albuquerque, NM. to finish the day.TennMan Thanks this. -
Went a little further to Grants NM area.. about 386 miles from delivery. Shaping up to be another great week. 3 loads, about 2800 miles and should gross about $4800.. I see a a decent check coming out of that.. Gonna need it! After this week I'm heading home for about 5 or 6 days. Still have stuff in storage from our move, Cali to PA and then back to Cali.. Yeah i know, crazy! don't ask!
Anyway, it will be nice to cut out the monthly storage cost I been paying forever and a day. Also having some RR with family and friends ..BBQ at our house for fireworks on the lake. We're getting the fireworks show early this year on the 28th. Our first year in this area of Cali so hope it is good!Last edited: Jun 22, 2014
