Well I'm sitting in a door at food lion in Dunn, they rescheduled me for today at 1530. They ended up paying me break down pay for yesterday and layover pay for today, so it all worked out in the end. Be safe!

Nothing new and earth shattering to report. Just out here doing the deal, I've been staying busy. I took last Friday off to get a doctor and dentist appt. taken care of, plus my CDL is coming up for renewal in July so I had to go and get my fingerprints done again so I can renew my hazmat. Thank goodness that's only necessary every 5 years. Looks like I will get a 3 day weekend again this week. Be safe and have a great Memorial Day weekend. Please take a moment this weekend to reflect on those who have paid the ultimate price to give us our freedom.
Tommyegunn, Lonesome and warhippy Thank this. -
Another week in the books, I had a busy and productive week. Ended up spending 4 nights in the truck this week. Last week I only spent 1 night in the truck, it just varies. Relaxing on the front porch, getting ready to go have lunch with the family and then catch an afternoon movie. Be safe.

I am leased onto Schneider Bulk. I can't speak highly enough about them. Glad to hear others doing well!

I've read most your posts and find them extremely educating. I just completed school in Colorado and talked my son into teaming with me. I researched all the companies in our area and Schneider was hands down the best both for safety and driver satisfaction. The recruiter had us in a dedicated route that would have us home two days a week. She quoted the numbers .32 cpm plus bonuses and such and I asked how many miles per week. She called the manager handling the account and it had already been filled. The next best thing open now has us out three weeks and home three days but lots of miles and such.
I'm extremely disappointed but both of us, my son and I, understand we are at the bottom of the totem pole and will have to suffer a little before we can get choice routes. I explained this to the recruiter and told her we could commit for one year no matter what but after that we would probably reevaluate.
Since we are both Veterans, I was Army 23 years and my son Marine for 4, and we both have our GI bill we should make excellent money that first year.
We leave for Fontana by the last week of June for training. Thanks again for the information you have shared. It helped me confirm that this was the right company to start with.Jrdude5 Thanks this. -
Good luck Warhippy to you and your son. Schneider has so many opportunities, from bulk, dedicated, Van, and intermodal. Put in your year, be safe and dependable, and then you can write your own ticket. Good luck and thanks for your service.

Hello runningman0661! I just wanted to sincerely thank you for this thread. I'd also like to thank everyone else who has asked a question since a lot of them helped me to find the answers that I was also looking for and also those who also contributed information for those of is who have been lurking and reading along. I've read every single message and I've learned more than any YouTube videos could ever teach me. I live in Greensboro NC and SNI has regional and intermodal in both Greensboro and Charlotte NC right now. I spoke with someone yesterday and my phone interview is scheduled to start in about 2 hours. I don't graduate from school until the beginning of July but after reading your post I've decided that your path is the one that I'd like to take. I already have offers from several other companies but being home a few nights a week plus weekends is extremely important to me. I have 3 sons and I help to coach their teams in several sports. I might not be able to help coach anymore but I can still get home to throw a baseball around and shoot some hoops with my boys. I can also make it to the majority of their games this way. Thank you so much for showing me that I can do this and still have a life. Please keep posting. Your experiences are like sight for the blind!
