Well done! You took the bull by the horns and talked to them about your requirements. That's good, assertive communication skills that come in handy no matter what you do.

By the way, you aren't alone in your situation. There's been numerous threads of other students that had similar difficulties getting their school to give them enough behind the wheel training time to pass the DMV test.

Looking forward to your successful test. I'll cap a frosty in your honor.

To be a little fair to dmv those driving schools book blocks of appointments and throw students in as they see fit. Your school more than likely is at fault here. When I went to get my CDL back my school was dicking me around so I made my own appointment. That's how I know dmv prints out your appointment date and time. Finally got my test date and passed the first time. Also passed the first time when I got my CDL the first time in 1996. So contrary to what Pylelt thinks it was anything but fantasy.

OP, I'd go down there and make an appointment. Get a printout of it. At least you'll have a date and time in writing. If your school gets you in before the appointment you book yourself then great. If they don't make them honor your self set appointment. Good luck.

It's smart to find a DMV with CDL authority in a small town or where it's not crowded. I'm sure the OP has had some problems with the DMV making their own foul ups but what makes it worse is to sound off to them no matter how wrong they are. That's just stupid.

**UPDATE*** CDLC did not forget about me after all. I PASSED!!! They had had me come back to practice before my last 3 DMV standby visits (and my name was never called), but when I was finally called, I was well-prepared and confident. I only had to do skills and drive (and air brakes, of course), since I passed pre-trip months ago. I had ZERO errors on the skills portion and only a few errors during the driving portion.

CDLC will NOT forget you. They will stand behind you until you pass, even if it takes a while.

^Dunno yet, supposed to meet up w/ the owner of the school I went to when he gets back from vacation next week to sit down and discuss it. Says he has a few companies in mind that he'll send me to interview with. As you may recall, I have a bigger hurdle to jump than the average CDL school graduate, so for me the pool of potential employers is smaller than it might otherwise be. I think this is why things weren't arranged ahead of time.
