I am interested in starting a trucking school but one that is not halfway across from country from me. I'd like to find a good one within 1-2 hours of Philadelphia area.

I am most interested in "free" driving schools that are company sponsored, but would also be willing to consider the schools that you pay for out of pocket, and then hope to be recruited immediately by a decent company.

I am unable to relocate at least for another year, so after getting my CDL I would need to find a company with terminals relatively near Philadelphia.

I have already applied with A Duie Pyle. With them, you need to be a part time dock worker for a few months, then they will decide to invest in paying for you to get your CDL. If they hire me, GREAT. If not, I am continuing to look for the best options.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Terminal locations have nothing to do with home time. Home time is based on company policy.
Sometimes a terminal close to home may help if you happen to be dispatched through that terminal, but that doesn't mean you will have time to go by the house.

Hey panhead thanks, they are #1 on my list right now.
I should also say that I am familiar with most of the ones in the area. I am just trying to narrow my search and find what places are the best.

And Chinatown, I wasn't talking about home time at all. I know that is based on company policy, and I am fine with being out for 2-3 weeks at a time.
I guess I am confused as to how it works then. I just assumed that when I am employed I would report to the company's terminal nearest to me for my first load, and then be out on the road for weeks, and then back to that terminal, and then drive myself home.
