Thank you for explaining that. You're 100% right. Admittedly... it is so hard not to point out being right especially when it happens so often. :biggrin_25526:

I didn't realize I had done that. But if I had, the problem would be.... what, exactly?

Imagine if this couple were a "team"......... not a driving team ( well that too ) but a mental team where the ego had no role. The success they would enjoy....as a team.

    Just sayin....

Let me ask you this, you have a signed load confirmation that says 3800.00 right? Then the load had better #### well pay 3800.

If the customer changes their minds at the last moment and additional cost is incurred due to their decision, it is up to them to make up the difference.

Seems to me, if the BOL doesn't state that extra charges are the consignee's responsibility, it now falls on the broker. So, theoretically, you back-charge the broker, who would in turn go after the shipper for perhaps double that.

That's how it works in the LTL world anyway.

COD does mean Cash on Delivery, not credit card. It really is the brokers problem.

as well the point that is being left out here is was the 3800 the amount the broker was getting paid, or the amount the truck was getting paid?

to take a credit card fee out of the truck share to me is dirty business.

Not an owner op here, but it's pretty obvious that the broker was hoping your boyfriend would be stupid/gullible. He gambled and won.
