Hope everything works out for you. Insurance is certainly high, especially with a family. The good thing for us single drivers is the company pays for it after 2 years.

Passed my 6 month mark being here. Got a small raise. Giving myself one though. Really been concentrating on my fuel economy. I'd been getting around 6.7-6.8..which is a 1 cpm bonus. The last 5700 miles, I'm at 7.6, a 3 cpm bonus.

First post ... I've viewed this website for a couple of years now, and thought I should thank all who've posted on this thread. Good reading and great info for someone who's wanting to get back on the road after a few months off (settling my father's estate). These guys sound like a class act! Not only a decent company offering good miles, but (judging from what I've read tonight) good people to work with; no trash in these postings. I'm giving these guys a call.

Really sorry about your knee problems my friend. I hope all goes well for you and you are back out here in a short time. Take care of yourself first and foremost.

Bac at it on Saturday, picked up @ DOT Foods in Joliet and ran it out to DOT Foods in Ardmore,OK delivered last night and a rare drop and hook. Waiting now for my next load....not much you can do really leaving out on a Saturday and dropping on a Sunday.

OK...now been at Holland for 17 weeks and here is a brief statistical analysis of where I am at compared with GTI after 17 weeks.
    Gordon- 31,926 miles @ 0.39 = $12,451 Ave: 1,878/week $732
    Holland - 41,671 @0.35 = $14,584 Ave: 2,451/week $857

    9,745 miles more $2,133
573 miles per week more $125 per week more
This includes the first week on both and one low mileage hometime week with Holland.

Definitely looking an even better decision week by week!!

It's certainly not the highest cpm out there by a long shot but miles are pretty solid, good long runs usually, no micromanage as long as you do your job, and a nice fleet that's well maintained. As Chowick just proved, 50 cpm don't mean squat without miles to back it.

Speaking of Chowick, we do get a small referral bonus. I'd send him a pm and get his name to put down when you apply. He did start the thread after all

I usually take the highway 11 coming out of St Albans. It just depends what time of day, weekend, holiday, etc. Seems like I'm usually coming out of there late at night and I get across 11 pretty good then. If it's a holiday or busy weekend definitely avoid it.

I cooked the goose for the safety bonus I think when I backed into that pole in Portland!! But I should get mileage and possibly fuel too.....I know I am sailing close to it....

I interviewed with Estes Express Lines before hiring on with Holland. I have been home almost a week now. Got a call to do a drug test and physical the other day. This morning I took a drive test. I was offered a job as a line haul driver. Pay is .495 a mile and in three years tops out at .555. Pays 10.00hr to pre/post/fuel/chain plus 4.00per trailer hooked/unhooked. Drivers running 2200-2800 miles a week. All I do is terminal to terminal, out a max of 4 nights a week and they pay for my hotel room every night. I will start next Monday. This is one of those jobs people only retire or die at. Hope I will retire in 16 years.
