It's not about leg work its about experience. You really think the majority of people are going to trust somebody who spent 3 weeks in a school. Probably 1 week actually in the truck and the other week waiting for people to finish the test? Yes I know there are schools who do more then 3 week training, but still. People want to see real world driving experience. These companies will train you to do the route, but they are not trying to train you how to back up, and how to shift. You suppose to know that coming in. Maintenance, and insurance is to high to be hiring rookies. Just go to a truck stop and watch how bad some of these guys back who are in training with the OTR company. You think the local companies have time for you to take an hour to hit a dock and you have 4 other trucks needing to get in the hole before receiving closes at 11 and you have 4 other stops and 3 pickups before 5. Get real folks. Nothing wrong with putting out local apps, but time is going by and if you haven't driven in awhile your cdl is useless. Pay the MAN another 2500 and wait for nobody to call you back again.
