I'm gonna help you out here and tell you exactly what's going to happen. First, your T700 is a piece of garbage, they all are. So, first, you are going to start having problems with your truck so, guess what, there goes a good chunk of your check. Then, your going to see your freight start to drop off, they do it to everyone. Then, if your still hanging on, the end of year comes and so does the IRS. So then, you can kiss off about 30% of what you made. Add on Obamacare or your own medical insurance and your living in your truck off advances. Then, finally, you have one more breakdown. Your broke, pennyless, and owe the IRS a ton of money because you didn't have a clue what you were actually getting yourself into and can no longer make the truck payments. Now, the last thing you do is come on here, like Truckdrivermn did and tell everyone, "you were right."
Now I know, with your vast experience, all of 4 years, your gonna be the one to do it, right? -
You forgot one thing..before signing onto anything get it in writing.... it's nice to know or have a family that's certified diesel mechanic.before signing on to it... I drove it for about a month..had everything checked by my own mechanic..who works on these trucks..so there goes the costly labor fee right there, plus and here's kicker..anything from me parts I get a discount on cause that same mechanic gets it..now what most don't do is have a guaranteed written statement from the leasing company an average mileage of 2500 or better deal...but in that same deal I have to waiver my planning..it's a win on both parties..there is also a buy out now clause..if I save enough or decide to say put a lien on it with my bank and pay them the payment instead...I could be owning this truck before that year rolls around...it's all about management on certain areas...I see how lease purchase people drive..and how alot of them fail..You can't drive a truck hard and expect to make revenue..and you can't expect to go home. And can't just go blow all your money away and live paycheck to paycheck...You will have some scrappy checks..but if you drive out your mileage and match it with a slow steady easy speed..and save save save fuel..by the way...I don't take advances out..I'm an owner operator as they keep telling me...

I did my research before getting sucked in...prepared myself financially..and its a walk away deal...if Taylor or myself breaks this contract before 5 years is up..it falters to the buyer..and the initial appraisal worth..can be paid to the previous and current owner..which is Taylor..the equity value is only 21648.00....not sweating it driver...not sweating nothing at all..just waiting for the right time when something does slip..I managed stores before being a truck driver..made a lot of owners rich too..trucking is just like retail..know your cost versus sales...this meaning freight..and if you can double the revenue of cost you're doing well..tripling it? You're on game...

Plus all brokerage freight I personally deal with...not the driver manager..she just hands it to me and let's me work..and I never heard her say that we don't have any freight...cause she knows I know better..I'll find it for her really quick if she does...Taylor already knows I was already a 20 year seasoned retail manager and a 3rd generation driver..coming in..I just really laugh how you call a person an idiot or whatever...when someone actually speaks nice things they see so far...I'm sorry you guys got screwed here...but I haven't seen it...a lot of drivers have bought several trucks here and it saves Taylor a lot of money by making owner operator s...

You have pretty much said the exact same thing I hear whenever I talk to a guy going into the fleece deal. And yes, I think I would call myself an expert with the T700. I drove 4 of them over a 2 year period and got well acquainted with them and KW mechanics. One thing I don't think your understanding is that the entire line of T700's is bad, your mechanic friend should know this. In just 12 months, I had over 90 days of breakdown with just one of those trucks. This was considered normal. It's great that your friend can get you deals but, reality is you don't get to pick where your truck goes down. As far as freight goes, you have no say what you get, you are at mercy of Taylor Truck Line.
Now, I understand why you think this is all gonna be sweet deal. Working at Transport America and USA Truck doesn't really give you a big pool of knowledge to pull from. I'm not bashing you for working for those companies, just saying your knowledge is limited. You also said Taylor saves money leasing trucks. No, Taylor makes money leasing trucks. They make money off of what your doing and your the poor guy that pays all the bills for them, nothing more. I am surprised about one thing, if you are a third generation driver, why didn't your family warn you off of leasing a truck?
You have a lot to learn and unfortunitly, your gonna learn the hard way. Even with a good company, leasing has always been a bad deal for the driver.jeff18 and loose_leafs Thank this. -

Also ,met a gal in orientation there,we hit it off and tried team driving for Taylor. A good week as a TEAM was 4000 miles and that was to be done in three days then sit with no layover pay rest of the week

I've had a couple T700 tractors. Not a problem with one of them. Probably one of the best trucks I've ever driven.

It's industry knowledge that the T700 is a bad truck. I've had 3, all junk. Last company I worked for had hundreds, all junk. If you think it's a good truck, maybe you should get out more.
