Am I still regulated by DOT and the FMCSA's rules?

    I drive a straight truck for lowes right now, I'm leaving for Central refrigerated in august

    I have a dot medical card, and my box truck has a dot number

    Yes. But those rules are different depending on what rules you are under.

    It counts as local experience. I don't get your question however. Certain local jobs are not required to log hours but yes your driving a commercial vehicle.

    anyone who drives a CMV in interstate commerce is subject to FMCSA rules/regs. People who drive CMVs intrastate only are subject to state regulations. All states have them and most have adopted the federal standards, or very similar. Even if your straight truck is rated under 26,001 gvwr, it's still a commercial vehicle, you just don't need the CDL.
