Yes it's a word that we use in English and it's illegal in North America. When you pick up a load in a foreign country it must be delivered to the trucks' country of origin. If not that is called carbotage. We have a lot of European drivers coming and working in Canada. However they do a lot of runs into the USA but you are always returing to Canada to deliver every load originating in the USA. This works out really good for us anyway as most of our runs are long with drops and picks only at the ends. Good luck to you trucking in North America

Carbotage is not driving in another country it's picking up and delivering loads in a country other than the truck's country of origin and it is not legal in the NAFTA countries. It is fairly easy for a European to be employed as a trucker in Canada and we have a lot of them coming over to work here even though most of their time is spent driving in the USA. No cabatage though, Any reputable trucking company just will not do it.
