Considering JCT. Is $4000 a month likely to bring home if no big truck repairs? After holding back for taxes? I assume everyone here keeps about 25% back for taxes? I'm learning so don't laugh if that doesn't make sense lol.

Well, this sucks. Backed to the dock at Walmart in Los Lunas, NM only to find out that some where between Gallup, NM and here the air ride on the trailer stopped working.
That's usually the leveling valve arm becoming disconnected.... Pretty easy fix.... -
When ever Walmart decides that they are done with my trailer, it is going to the TA in ABQ.
-
Why am I not surprised that there is only on tech on duty and he has two road calls and three trucks waiting in the shop. I was told to just come back at 0700. Oh well. Night.
Update 0745: Waited 8 hrs too get in the shop only to find out that cheap bracket from the axle to the leveling valve broke. A five minute fix and now will probably sit til tomorrow for a load.
Update 1030: Got a load picking up at Tyson in Amarillo. Trailer is already loaded waiting for me. Going to Clackamas, Or.
Question. If dispatch load picks up in June and delivers in July, does this miles count for June or July?Last edited: Jun 29, 2014

Anyone familiar with running down to Phoenix from I-40 and taking 377/260/87 from Holbrook instead of going through Flagstaff and down 17? I've never been that way, and am reluctant to take that route without some info knowing the road looks to be windy and steep in places. It saves like 70 miles going that way, so figured I'd ask.
And good question Macho on the cutoff date for miles. I'd like to know the answer to that as well. -
What ever DAY the load assignment comes to you is the day it gets credited. So a load sent at 23:59 gets credited for that day regardless of delivery day.
Same principle with fuel surcharge. If you get the load info s Sunday before midnight s and it picks up on Tuesday, your surcharges will be the previous weeks amount.
Hope that all made sensetallinthesaddle4life and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
Take 40 to 17. The other way SUCKS ###. lots of pulls, HUGE pulls. Not worth it by any means
-
Even if I'm heading TO Phoenix? I would think the big pulls would be northbound. Either way, thanks for the info!
-
Oh, it's good roads, perfectly fine for big trucks. The problem is the pulls. The last one on 87 is like 7 or 8% and seems to go forever. Take it ONE time and see for yourself.
I was in the same boat last year. I had time to spare for a delivery in Phoenix, took that road and got to customer 2 minutes before appt. I lost over 45 minutes going that way and a ton of fuel. Remember, on 17 , once you go ever that last pull, it's all downhill. You'll make up a ton of mpg arty that point all the way to Phoenix or Tollleson or Tempe.
I know I'll NEVER do that route again. -
Cool. Thanks for the info. This load gives me almost 34k miles for the quarter. Not a bad first full quarter with JCT. That is a three month average of 11,333 miles.
Since I am not taking home time til it time to take the kid back home, I am hoping to get a really good start on miles for next quarter.
My logbook is setup where I can run another two weeks or longer without a restart.Alanp613 Thanks this.
