This might be a little silly but, i'm finding myself having awkward conversations with recruiters from companies I applied to and have accepted my application, but im waiting on something better. For example Company A has approved my app and wants me in orientation asap but, im waiting on company b and c who are both slightly better to finish my interview process and/or offer/decline me. So yea company A is great but, they want me now and companies B and C are better and i wont know if they want me for a couple weeks.

wtf do you say? I dont want my hesitance to cost me a good job.

Tell em the truth. That you are considering other offers. Not like they would be surprised.

Most get pushy and try to hurry you. Simply tell them you are exploring several options and will let them know your decision.

Why is it taking so long for B and C to get you approved? Is there anything on your record that would limit your chances on getting hired by B or C?So tell us what does B and C have to offer that A doesn't?Can you tell us what these 2 companies are?Company A says they need you ASAP but really they don't.The recruiter doesn't need to know why you wanna wait, its none of their business.Just tell recruiter you have some things you need to get taken care of at home and you won't be able to start for a couple weeks. That way you'll have company A to fall back on if B or C does'nt prehire you.If they can't wait then that job isn't worth it.Thats a sample of how the company feels about their drivers.

Thats a sample of how the company feels about their drivers.

Correct! A good driver ( on paper and in employment ) is worth his weight in gold. A rush to get you on board is a bad sign. A solid recon at an area TS and conversations with their drivers reveals a lot as well as looking at the employee parking lot if possible.

Another bad sign is a sticker on the side of the truck that reads something like " if you see this equipment sitting for more than X hours please call XXX-XXX-XXXX " To me that indicates a total distrust for the drivers. Some will say the decal is for theft purposes but ahh no.....it's not.

Repetitive ads on CL are bad too but there is a tool that tells all ( or most of it ) Take a look at his CSA score. Pay attention to his maintenance and HOS numbers. If they are high like 50 plus% then it's a sign he pushes drivers and doesn't take care of his iron. Some will say "oh high HOS numbers are those darn drivers ! Just won't do it right " and I'll call BS on that.

Like they said, it's your ball, just tell the others your weighing options / offers and will advise soon.

    Good luck

What about telling the recruiter's a little lie in your favor such as .... you cant actually come to work till lets say ....HHHMM........ July 30th 2014 because (insert lie here) --some lie like ..you have contracted to paint 3 houses, install 10 swimming pools, ...something which look good, but will delay their expectation of you having to show up to work for them next week.
It should buy you time to receive all employment offers and pick the best one?
