I am learning a hard lesson and I need some frank opinion about job options. I have been driving 5 years (Class A (HT) and did bout' a year OTR for SWIFT then been driving local since. Company laid me off in March and I can't find a job here in Tampa. In last 3 years have 0 speeding, 2 failure to wear seat belt and 1 no DOT physical card on me. 4 years back had 1 speeding which was 4 pts. For one of those seat belts (Aug 07) I didn't pay the ticket and realized first of this month (04/08) that my license was suspended. I paid the fine and it was restored. I was actually driving all that time but didn't realize the fine had not been paid. Bad communication between my wife and I, stupid but true.

What do you think? Is that suspension killing my chances? Any advice on how to get a job? Don't really want to be OTR but if that is the only option I'll take it. Options? Advice?

NO WAY! You're good. A suspension for a NON-MOVING violation isn'tgoing to hurt you at all!!

I had a parking ticket in my PERSONAL CAR, that wasn't paid. I was suspended, paid the ticket, and got restored. I've NEVER had a problem getting a job.

I also have no moving violations, no accidents, and no DOT violations. BUT I DO have to put on my applications that my license was suspended (because they all ask). I just put 1 suspension, 2001, Parking Ticket.

No one has ever given me a problem.
