Every profession is regulated. Pilots are regulated, bus drivers, surgeons, chemists, police officers. I'm sure they all would love to not be regulated and do whatever they want.
The reality is people cannot be trusted to do the right thing if no one is around to watch them. It's been proven time and time and time again. And since the government can't afford to put a baby sitter next to everyone, regulations and laws are the next best thing.

Dude what's wrong with personal responsibility? You take responsibility every time you turn that key, What do you want the government to do show you how to drive too???
I have been told in Mexico they have no log books and very few accidents.
You must stop believing that you need the government to tell you how to live your life.
As a matter of fact you should be telling the government how to live theirs. They are the ones who are taking bribes and or living sinfully in every way known to man.
We are the rulers of this country we meaning the non federal tax payers not the other way around. They and their rules are causing the accidents.

 

Need to start training all drivers better!, cars,trk's etc. Then they would start seeing the accidents come down. But that will never happen with the lobbyists around, when they can make huge profits off getting ignorant politicians to go along with them on the latest and greatest regulation to solve all the nations problems.worst of all the sheeple let them get away with it. As a collective whole we keep reelecting these dirt bags!. Sympathy and apathy will destroy this country. So what's going to happen after the magic eld's, eobr's or what ever the favorite acronym is for the week is mandated and accidents rates don't take a nose dive. Then what's next down the regulation turnpike?.

 

We need to stop worrying bout what everyone else is going to do and do what is right for ourselves. If you see ELD's as the beginning of the end you need to pan your next step. Do you want to join a group of like minded individuals and try to make a difference? Then do that. Same goes for the HOS. If you feel this is just technology being applied to an antiquated profession, then adapt and overcome. If you can't change hang in there as long as you can and see what options present themselves.
