What am i doing with the rig? Am i an O/O,Company driver or a Flease Driver? Do all 3 rigs have the same drive trains,Miles and warranties?
Missing some info here. -
I purchased a prostar, I'm a solo driver. As a team driver the cascadia was roomy enough. And the pete seems really solid. To me the cascadia is soft and floaty... but crashed over sharp bumps, and mine got 7.6mpg w/eaton 10spd but was weak when going up hills. The pete will hold value better, and had a nice ride, felt like it had better build quality (even though it was down more often then any other truck I've been in). The prostar has silly issues with the ac, but I've never had any other issues with mine, soft ride, has a good feel In the steering wheel, heavy feel to the clutch. And being a thinner guy, the seats in the prostar are wonderful for me (6'1" 160lbs).
Now the proprietary engines for each brand, they differ a bit. Max force is based off cat... and I've heard nothing but bad reviews on them. The dd15 gets good mpg, bad on hills/feels weak, random electrical issues. And the paccar.... not to much experience with them... They get good mpg, and are crazy quiet.
If your talking about older trucks... There is more info to add -
Why?
1. Easiest truck with a sleeper and a hood to back up. When I'm driving a a 670 I never worry about finding a spot late at night at the TS. I just snatch the hard to back into one that everyone else skips.
2. Quietest/smoothest engine I've driven. I've driven Cat's, Detroit(including the DD15), and Cummins and the D13 is by far the quietest of them all.
3. Fuel Mileage. A well spec'd 670 w/ a D13 can easily see mid 8's in normal Dry van/reefer service.bergy, BobcatVolvo and MsJamie Thank this. -
Of the three, I'd go with the Cascadia, though I must admit to being a bit of a fangirl over the Volvo 670.
Pete: Worst turning radius of the bunch, which means backing in a crowded truck stop will be a bit more challenging. Then there's the (in)famous "clutch leg". Paccar trucks (Petes and KWs) have a reputation of being a bit pricy to maintain, and seem to have cornered the market in water leaks in the sleepers. You can always tell an idling Pete; they sound like they have a bag of marbles rattling around inside the engine.
International: A lot depends on the year. I drove a 2011 pre-Maxxforce truck, and it out-pulled most anything on the hills. The Maxxforce trucks seem to have gone the other way. As for comfort, I found them to be rather cramped. (I'm a large person.)
Cascadia: The most comfortable truck that I've driven, though my Volvo is close.
That's just my opinion. Go take a look at all three trucks, and get the one YOU like best. You'll be the one living in it.BobcatVolvo Thanks this. -
All things being equal, Freightliner with the DD15, then International with Cummins, then Peterbilt. Freightliner is a work truck. Have a lot of room and don't mind beating it to death. Same with Prostars. DD15 is best engine IMO. Best pulling power. The Cummins is 2nd. I hate the DD13 and Maxxforce. Petes to me are show off trucks, though if company driver can't have much say. Now you give me a 587 with an u castrated CAT and that may move to top of my list.

Lucar Thanks this.

I would pass on all three and opt for a KW T680 with a Cummins.
poppapump1332 and Richter Thank this. -
Like GabeScott sez, ask 10 drivers, you'll get 10 (maybe 9) different answers. They all have their +'s and -'s. I've driven every truck, except a new Volvo. Frightliner[sic] rode very nice, turned great, but had lots of problems, especially from dealer. IH was a darned good truck, but thought it rode rough, and funky clutch. Favorite were KW/Pete, but a little harder to get around, but better resale. Older Volvo's were junk, (newer ones are much better, I've heard) and finally, Mack, the toughest truck around. Do yourself a favor, and drive them all. You'll notice a big difference in all. Good luck.

My personal experience with internationals and freightliners are not good so personally I would take the Pete over anything.
the 587's are glorified 387's with a longer nose.
try to get it without the mx engine I would try get it with cummins
but thats just me
