Thank you for reading I just bought my first manual truck it's a 1994 freightliner fl70 8.3l diesel of course 6 speed manual eaton midrange transmission fs6206A and I can shift my gears only if I'm under 1000rpm if it's higher no matter what I do I can't pull out into neutral to shift up and it causes me to gain speed very slow since I'm shifting so fast at just under 1000rpm every gear, but the truck seems to drive just fine
Gears won't shift over 1000rpm

sounds like tranny problem to me. I'm not sure what the issue would be with the tranny so take my words lightly. is it the original trans?
-
Yes everything is original on the truck

Have you tried double clutching the beast... and
replacing the fluid..
..... Philip -
Yes I've tried double clutching, I was just thinking of replacing the fluid since the trick has been sitting for a few years before I bought it the motor oil was thick as jello almost perhaps the transmission isn't any better. How do you change the transmission oil on this truck? Not sure what transmission is in it either just know it's 6 speed manual
-
Most likely it is a Eaton Fuller, those transmissions were sensitive to fluid, double check what Eaton recommends (I think it was SAE50). Many people have used 75-90 and those transmission shift very hard with thicker oil. I'd drain it out, run some thinner engine oil through it, just run around a yard bit in the lower gears to flush it. Then drain it and fill it with the factory recommended lube.
There are 2 plugs on the side of the trans. The top one is the fluid level, the bottom one is the drain. -
I really appreciate the help, I will do that.

Make shure you remove the top plug first... Dont want to drain then find the fill is siezed..
I use ATF to clean and flush...
