After having driven an auto, I would go with the manual. Easier on the hills and just an all around stronger transmission. I have pulled mountains with the automatic and hated it. Especially when a wire broke on the shift lever and I could not downshift at the top of the pass to slow me down. Had to stop and put it in 4 low to keep from running away downhill. This happened to be the first snow also.

When you are on the highway, you will really not shift that much.

OK my bad, the words other dealership didn't register but still they use the same black book to determine that price, or did the last time I got a new car (last year) that was the case.

arnt the automatics notorious for having problems in the rams? also with the 06 I get $36346 cash back with my trade in versus only $1000 for the 05

Go with the manual. You will have fewer problems, especially when it's hot. I drive an auto and when it's hot and I'm loaded heavy, it's not a fun day.

I bought a 2005 Ram with the 6 speed manual because of the reputation of the automatics. Also because I figured there would be less maintenance with a manual. That's not to say the manuals are without problems. The stock clutch is the weak link with the manuals. Replace the stock clutch with a good after market clutch (I chose the South Bend clutch) and you should be good to go.

So is it cash back or trade in value on your current vehicle to go towards the truck? If it's a trade in, do as I said before. Go to car max and see what they will give you

I don't know I can't beat them up to give more...I tried... The 06 autimatic with 50,000 more miles is a better deal by about $600 if I was to resell both trucks after keeping the money. But.... Maybe it's the worse truck to do this job in. I really can't decide!

Go with the manual, less problematic.
